The refrigerator is designed to maintain temperatures between 0.5°C (33°F) and 3.3°C (38°F). It operates on a dedicated, 3-prong grounded electrical receptacle. The thermostat (cold control) is factory-preset at the "5" or mid-point position. The lighting consists of LED light strips.
Usage Features:
- Installation: The appliance must be positioned on a level floor to ensure proper door closure and condensate drainage. A minimum of 5.08 cm (2") clearance is required at the rear for adequate air circulation and power cord space. It should not be installed near high heat sources (fryers, ranges, heating ducts) or directly beneath undiffused air conditioning vents.
- Shelving: The refrigerator comes with a corresponding number of shelves and shelf clips (four per shelf). Shelving is adjustable in 1.27 cm (1/2") increments.
- Loading: Users are warned not to load the refrigerator above the load level line indicator located on the left interior wall, or outside the perimeter of the shelves. The exterior, lower front grill must not be blocked, as this can restrict air circulation, reduce cooling performance, and potentially damage refrigeration components or freeze products.
- Start-Up: After installation, the appliance must be run for a period of 24 hours prior to use to allow it to pull down to optimal temperature and to load with product.
- Thermostat Adjustment: The cold control is located on the evaporator housing on the left front face of the interior cabinet ceiling. Adjustments should be made in 1/8 diameter increments, with a minimum 2-hour waiting period for temperature stabilization after each adjustment. Turning clockwise makes it colder, counter-clockwise makes it warmer. There is an OFF position.
- Lighting: Light switches for the SE40e Commercial Refrigerator are located on the front face of the interior lamp housing.
- Sliding Doors: The manual provides detailed instructions for sliding door removal, reinstallation, and skew adjustment. This is necessary for maintenance and to ensure proper door closure. The doors have a "V" shaped door track sealer strip that rests atop inner and outer door frame edges to create a seal.
Maintenance Features:
- Condenser Coil Cleaning (Free'n'Clear™ Condenser Coil - SE40e): This is a critical preventative maintenance task. The condenser coil (heat-exchange coil) is located behind the lower grill. It should be visually inspected weekly for build-up of grease, floor wax, dust, and lint. Cleaning should be performed monthly, at minimum. The grill must be removed to access the coil. A dusting wand or a vacuum with a soft bristle nozzle can be used for cleaning. For stubborn residue, a qualified professional should be employed.
- General Cleaning:
- Interior Cabinet: A mild mixture of anti-bacterial detergent and warm water with a soft cloth can be used. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Interior Stainless Steel Floor: Cleaned following the same instructions as the interior cabinet.
- Evaporator Housing: Cleaning should be performed by a Trained Professional using a mild mixture of anti-bacterial detergent and warm water with a soft cloth.
- Condensate Drain Tubes: To be completed by a Trained Professional. A mild mixture of anti-bacterial detergent and warm water should be poured into the drain tube or via the evaporator drain pan. Users are warned not to push, lean on, or force the condensate drain tube.
- Shelves: Remove shelves from the cabinet and wash by hand with a mild solution of anti-bacterial detergent and warm water. Do not soak shelves in any liquids other than water and detergent. A brush (HABCO® P/N C097589) can be used for hard-to-reach areas.
- Glass: A 50:50 Vinegar & Water mixture is recommended for everyday glass cleaning.
- Sliding Door Channels: These should be vacuumed daily to remove debris. A mild solution of anti-bacterial detergent and warm water with a soft damp cloth or soft bristle nylon brush can be used for stubborn residue. Prompt removal of syrup or food products that harden in the tracks is essential to prevent impedance of door operation and increased energy consumption.
- Magnetic Positive-Seal Gasket: Clean with a mild solution of anti-bacterial detergent and warm water with a damp cloth or sponge. Do not pull, remove, place undo stress on, or submerge gaskets.
- Pilaster Removal: Pilaster strips can be removed for cleaning beneath them after removing product and shelving.
- Combatting Odours: An open box of baking soda placed on a shelf at the rear of the cabinet, replaced every three months, can help prevent odours. Maintaining clean cabinet surfaces is also crucial.
- Extended Shutdown & Storage: Disconnect power, clean thoroughly, remove shelving, and leave an open box of baking soda inside. The door should be blocked slightly ajar but secured not to open. The entire refrigerator should be covered with an appropriate, breathable cover.
The manual emphasizes safety with "WARNING" and "NOTICE" signal words.
- WARNING (Death or Serious Injury): Highlights risks such as fire, explosion, electrical shock, and personal injury. Door adjustments are not covered under warranty, and issues arising from customer-reversed doors are the responsibility of the end-user. Maintenance and replacement of LED light strips and related driver components must be performed by a qualified technician only.
