Overview

This document describes the Haier DE45EM and DE65EM series of dehumidifiers, including models DE45EM, DE45EM-T, DE45EM-TC, DE45EM-E, DE65EM, DE65EM-T, DE65EM-TC, and DE65EM-E. These units are designed to reduce the relative humidity of the surrounding air, making the environment slightly warmer as they operate.

Function Description

The Haier dehumidifiers are designed to remove moisture from the air in enclosed areas. They feature an automatic humidistat control, allowing users to set a desired humidity level. The units also include an automatic shut-off and indicator light, which activates when the water bucket is full or not properly positioned. A timer function enables pre-setting the unit to turn on or off automatically within a 24-hour period. For convenience, the units offer two fan speeds (LOW and HIGH) and a "Smart Dry" setting that automatically adjusts fan speed based on the difference between the set and actual humidity levels.

Water removal can be done in two ways:

  1. Manual Emptying: When the "BUCKET FULL" indicator light illuminates, the unit must be turned off. After a few minutes to allow dripping to stop, the bucket can be lifted using its side handles, emptied into a sink or tub, and then reinstalled. It is crucial to ensure the drain cap is tightened before operating the unit again.
  2. Direct Drain (Garden Hose Attachment): For continuous drainage, a standard garden hose can be attached. This involves removing the plastic cap at the rear of the unit, tightly screwing the garden hose to the direct drain opening, and positioning the dehumidifier close to a floor drain with the hose opening directly over it. When this feature is not in use, the drain hose should be removed, and the opening plugged with the provided rubber cap.

  • Proper Cleaning: Before cleaning, turn off the unit and unplug it. Use water and a mild detergent to clean the inlet and outlet grilles. Avoid using bleach or abrasives.

Abnormality Diagnosis

The manual provides flowcharts for diagnosing common issues:

  • E0 Fault Code (Ambient Temperature Sensor Short Trouble): Unit stops operating, E0 displayed.
    • First, check if Terminal CN2 on the indoor mainboard is properly contacted. If not, reinsert terminals.
    • If still an issue, pull out the sensor, measure resistance between jumpers and temperature at the sensing head. Compare with specifications.
    • If the sensor is damaged, replace it. If not, the indoor PCB is broken and needs replacement.
  • E1 Fault Code (Coil Temperature Sensor Short Trouble): Unit stops operating, E1 displayed. (Diagnosis process similar to E0, focusing on the coil temperature sensor).
  • E2 Fault Code (Key Failure): Unit stops, E2 displayed.
    • Check if the keystroke can't get up with pressure.
    • If so, repair the keystrokes on the electrical box to keep them away from the PCB.
    • If not, the PCB is broken and needs replacement.
