This document is a Use and Care Guide for the Hampton Bay Ashmore Fire Pit, Model #FT-01H, Item #1000. It provides comprehensive information on assembly, operation, maintenance, and safety for the product.

Function Description

The Hampton Bay Ashmore Fire Pit is an outdoor appliance designed for burning untreated wood or fire logs. It serves as a source of warmth and ambiance for outdoor spaces. The fire pit is not designed for cooking food.

Usage Features

Safety Information:

  • Outdoor Use Only: The fire pit is strictly for outdoor use.
  • Supervision: Never leave a fire unattended.
  • Fuel Type: Burn only untreated wood or fire logs. Do not burn more than 5 lbs of fuel.
  • Prohibited Fuels: Do not use gasoline or kerosene to start the fire.
  • No Cooking: The fire pit is not designed for grilling food.
  • Surface Requirements: Do not use on wood decks, long or dry grass, leaves, or other combustible surfaces.
  • Child and Pet Safety: Keep children and pets away from the fire pit without supervision.
  • Hot Surfaces: Do not touch the surface of the fire pit while in use as it may cause burns. Do not attempt to move the fire pit while it is hot or in use.
  • Clearance: Place the fire pit no closer than 8 ft. from walls or combustibles during use.
  • Ventilation: Never burn in vehicles, tents, or indoors due to carbon monoxide hazard.
  • Mesh Cover: Always ensure the mesh cover is secured over the fire bowl while in use. Use the provided poker and/or heat-resistant gloves to open/close the mesh cover.
  • Extinguishing Fire: Do NOT use water to extinguish the fire as it is dangerous and can damage the fire pit. Allow the fire to burn itself out.
  • Poker Handle: The poker handle may become hot during and after use.
  • Fire Extinguishing Material: Adequate fire extinguishing material should be readily available.
  • Proposition 65 Warning: Fuel used in wood and charcoal burning appliances and their combustible products contain chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

Assembly: The assembly process involves several steps:

  1. Assembling the Mesh Cover: Insert the handle (A) into the mesh cover (B) and secure it with a nut (CC). Tighten with an M6 wrench. Gloves are recommended during assembly.
  2. Assembling the Stand: Attach the four stand pieces (E) to the fire bowl (D) using M6x10 mm bolts (AA). Do not tighten the bolts at this step.
  3. Attaching the Decoration Ring: Attach the decoration ring (F) to the stand (E) using M6x16 mm bolts (BB). Securely tighten all bolts with an M6 wrench.
  4. Completing Assembly: Place the poker (G) near the fire pit for use.

Operating Instructions:

  • Lighting:
    • Place a layer of dry seasoned hardwood, covering no more than ¼ of the fire bowl.
    • Use a long match or stick lighter to ignite the fuel.
    • Use the provided poker to operate the fire pit. Wear heat-resistant gloves during use.
  • Extinguishing the Fire:
    • Allow the fire to burn itself out naturally.
    • Do NOT use water to extinguish the fire, except in an emergency, as it is dangerous and can damage the fire pit.

Maintenance Features

General Maintenance:

  • Post-Use Cleaning: Clean the fire pit after each use to extend its lifespan.
  • Finish Protection: Use a soft cloth instead of bare hands when handling to protect the fire pit's finish.
  • Ash Removal: Clean the fire bowl after each use once the ashes have cooled completely.
  • Storage: Store the assembled fire pit in a cool, dry location, away from children and pets.

Care and Cleaning:

  • Cool Down: Do not attempt to clean the fire pit until the fire is completely out and the unit has cooled completely.
  • Cleaning Tools: Use a soft cloth to wipe the fire pit and poker.
  • Hot Cleaning: Do not attempt to clean the fire pit while it is hot.
  • Covering: Keep the fire pit covered when it is cooled and not in use.
