Overview

This document describes the Aftonshire Ceiling Fan, Model #SOH52MBK3LR, an electrical appliance designed for air circulation and lighting in residential settings. It includes instructions for assembly, installation, operation, and maintenance, along with safety information and warranty details.

Function Description:

The Aftonshire Ceiling Fan provides air movement and illumination. It can be mounted in two styles: downrod mount (standard or angled ceiling) or closemount (standard ceiling only). The fan features a reversible motor for seasonal performance optimization, allowing for downward airflow in warmer weather to create a wind chill effect, and upward airflow in cooler weather to help move stagnant, hot air off the ceiling area. The integrated LED light kit provides illumination and is dimmable to 10%. The fan and light functions are controlled via a remote control transmitter.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Item #: 5303207
  • Net Weight (including light kit): 18.48 lbs.
  • Mounting Support: Must be mounted to an outlet box marked "ACCEPTABLE FOR FAN SUPPORT OF 35 LBS. OR LESS" using provided mounting screws. The outlet box and its support must be able to support the moving weight of the fan (at least 35 lbs.). A METAL octagonal outlet box is required; plastic outlet boxes are not suitable.
  • Clearance: Minimum clearance of 7 ft. from the blades to the floor and at least 30 in. from the end of the blades to any obstruction.
  • Ceiling Angle (for angled mount): Not steeper than 19°.
  • Electrical Connections: Must comply with local codes, ordinances, the National Electrical Code and ANSI/NFPA 70-1999. Wire connectors provided are designed for one 12-gauge house wire and two lead wires from the fan.
  • Remote Control Receiver Electrical Rating: 120V / 60 Hz; motor amps: 1.25 MAX. Not for use with solid state fans.
  • LED Light Kit Wattage: 18 watts. The LEDs are not replaceable by the user.
  • Dimmability: Dimmable to 10%.
  • FCC Compliance: The device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules, subject to two conditions: (1) it may not cause harmful interference, and (2) it must accept any interference received. Changes or modifications not approved by the responsible party could void user authority to operate the equipment.
  • Safety Certifications: ETL US LISTED, Intertek 4009218. Approved for use in DAMP LOCATIONS.

Usage Features:

  • Remote Control Operation: The fan and light functions are controlled by a remote control transmitter.
    • Fan Speed Control: Buttons for HIGH (3), MEDIUM (2), and LOW (1) speeds, and OFF (0).
    • Light Control: A dedicated button to turn the light ON or OFF. Holding this button down activates the dimmer function, allowing the light to increase or decrease cyclically over 8 seconds. The light button has an auto-resume function, retaining the last brightness setting.
    • Color Mode Selection: A dedicated button allows cycling through different light color modes: warm white, bright warm white, natural white, bright white, and daylight.
    • Remote Synchronization: The remote control transmitter must be synchronized with the fan motor by pressing and holding the "LEARN" button on the back of the transmitter within 30 seconds of powering on the fan.
  • Seasonal Reverse Switch: A manual reverse switch is located on the top of the motor housing.
    • Warmer Weather (LEFT position): Downward airflow creates a wind chill effect.
    • Cooler Weather (RIGHT position): Upward airflow helps move stagnant, hot air off the ceiling area.
    • Important: The reverse switch must be set completely LEFT or completely RIGHT for the fan to operate. It will not function if set in the middle position.
  • Mounting Options:
    • Downrod Mount: Suitable for ceilings 8 ft. or higher, or angled/vaulted ceilings (up to 19°). A longer downrod (not included) may be used for taller ceilings or to ensure proper blade clearance.
    • Closemount: Suitable for ceilings lower than 8 ft. high.
  • Power Disconnection: Electricity must be shut off at the main switch or circuit breaker before installation or maintenance to prevent serious injury or death.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Checks: At least twice a year, the canopy should be lowered to check the downrod assembly and tighten all screws on the fan.
  • Cleaning:
    • Motor Housing: Clean with only a soft brush or lint-free cloth to avoid scratching the finish.
    • Blades: Clean with a lint-free cloth.
    • Important: Do not use water or a damp cloth to clean the ceiling fan.
  • LED Light Kit: The LED light kit is 18 watts, and the LEDs are not designed to be replaced by the user. Any servicing required for the LED component should be handled by customer service.
  • Remote Control Batteries: The remote control uses two AAA batteries (included). Batteries should be inserted with correct polarity. Do not mix old and new batteries, or different battery types. Remove batteries if the remote control will not be used for long periods to prevent damage. Dispose of batteries properly according to local regulations.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: The manual includes a troubleshooting section to address common issues such as the fan not moving, noisy operation, excessive wobbling, and light failure, providing possible causes and corrective actions.
  • Warranty: The fan motor is warranted to be free from defects in workmanship and material for the life of the product. All other ceiling fan parts (excluding the motor and parts made with glass) are warranted for one year from the date of purchase. The manufacturer's sole responsibility is to repair or replace defective parts or the product within the stated terms. The warranty is void if the original purchaser ceases to own the fan or if service is performed by a non-licensed electrician.
