Why is my Hardy H5 Wood stove using excessive wood or overheating?
    • M
      Matthew BurgessAug 18, 2025
Excessive wood usage or overheating in your Hardy Wood stove can be caused by several factors. Make sure all doors are closed and securely fastened, and inspect door seals for damage, replacing them if necessary. Also, check the damper blower lid for any obstructions, such as creosote buildup; if found, unplug the blower motor, disassemble, clean, and oil it. Ensure the damper aquastat is set to 170ºF, and replace it if it's causing the blower to run until the water boils. Finally, inspect all water lines and connections for leaks, repairing or replacing any that are found.

What to do if my Hardy H5 is using excessive wood or overheating?
    • T
      Taylor AndersonAug 21, 2025
If your Hardy Wood stove is using excessive wood or overheating, several issues could be the cause. Check the pop-off valve and replace it if it's relieving for no apparent reason. Inspect the liquid level switch float to ensure it's upright, with the magnets on top; if the solenoid doesn't click and the light doesn't turn on and off when moving the float, replace the switch. If the solenoid clicks but the heater still overflows, it may be stuck open; remove and clean or replace it. Disconnect the line to the electric water solenoid and turn off the valve to the system fill to ensure no water enters the tank from the fill system. If the heater tank still overfills, remove the heater hull and lid to check the domestic water coil for leaks; repair or replace as needed.

What to do if water is not circulating through the heat loop in my Hardy Wood stove?
    • J
      Jennifer ReyesAug 23, 2025
If water isn't circulating through the heat loop in your Hardy Wood stove, several factors could be responsible. Check that the pump is operating correctly. Ensure that any inline valves are open and functioning. Bleed the lines to remove any trapped air; note that non-pressurized lines require the pump to be running during bleeding. If there are scale deposits in the hot water coil, disconnect the inlet and outlet and clean the coil with a descale cleaning kit. Also, bleed any air from the hot water coil.

Why is the pump not running in my Hardy Wood stove?
    • C
      Cassandra Schneider DVMAug 28, 2025
If the pump in your Hardy Wood stove isn't running, here's what you can check: First, unplug the pump, remove it, and pull the cartridge from the pump. Spin the impeller by hand; if it won't spin, replace the cartridge. Next, use an ohmmeter to test the capacitor; when connected, the needle should jump towards “0” ohms and slowly drift back to infinity; replace the capacitor if it's defective. Finally, disconnect the wires connected to the motor terminals to test the motor independently; check for ground and continuity with an ohmmeter and ensure the windings' insulator shows no breakage; if it does, replace the pump.

How to clean ash bin for Hardy Wood stove?
    • M
      markgutierrezAug 30, 2025
To maintain your Hardy Wood stove, clean out the ash bin weekly. Ash buildup on the grates can cause them to warp. If the grates warp, they can be turned over to straighten. When removing ashes, leave at least 1/2” to 1” of ashes in the bottom of the ash pan.

What to do if there is moisture in the fire box of my Hardy H5 Wood stove?
    • A
      Anne KingSep 8, 2025
If you notice moisture in the firebox of your Hardy Wood stove, it could be due to a couple of reasons.
