Why is my Hardy H25 burning improperly?

  Improper burning in your Hardy Wood stove can stem from several issues. First, check the grates for ash buildup and clear them. If the grates are warped, turn them over to allow them to straighten. Next, inspect the air intake at the back of the heater for any obstructions and clean them out. Also, lift the damper lid and check the damper chamber for obstructions. If the forced air blower isn't running, consult the 'No Heat' section. Remove the smoke stack and check for creosote buildup. Clean out the fire box and check the openings to the baffle plate. Finally, if the fire goes out when the damper is closed, inspect the holes in the damper lid for obstructions and clean them.

  Excessive wood usage in your Hardy Wood stove can be caused by several factors. Ensure all doors are closed and securely fastened. If the door seal is defective, it needs replacing; contact your local Hardy dealer for rope and silicone and consult the heater operation section of the owner's manual for replacement instructions. Also, remove any obstructions preventing the damper lid from closing properly. Finally, if the T & P valve is leaking, replace it.

  If your Hardy Wood stove isn't producing heat, several factors could be the cause. Start by inspecting the aquastat; bypass it by placing a jumper wire across terminals #4 and #5 on the terminal strip. If the blower and damper solenoid then operate, the aquastat needs replacement. If bypassing the aquastat doesn't solve the issue, check the damper solenoid. If it doesn't lift the lid off the intake to the forced air draft blower, it should be replaced. Also, inspect the blower motor, electrical wiring, and air passages for any blockages or clogs. Ensure all connections are secure, clear any obstructions in the cleanout and damper blower outlets, and remove any lint, ashes, or creosote buildup from the blower wheel.
