Pruningistrimminglimbsfromalivetree.
Workslowly,keepingbothhandsonthechain
sawwith a firmgrip. Always makesureyour
footingissecureandyourweightisdistributed
evenlyonbothfeet.
Do not cut froma ladder,this is extremely
dangerous.Leavethisoperationforprofessionals.
Donotcutabovechestheightasasawheld
higherisdifficulttocontrolagainstkickback.
Whenpruningtreesitisimportantnottomake
thefinishingcutnexttothemainlimbortrunk
untilyou have cut offthe limb further outto
reducetheweight.Thispreventsstrippingthe
barkfromthemainmember.
Underbuckthebranch1/3throughforyourfirst
cut.
Yoursecondcutshouldoverbucktodropthe
branchoff.
Now make your finishing cutsmoothly and
neatlyagainstthemainmembersothebarkwill
growbacktosealthewound.
WARNING:
If the limbs to be pruned are above chest
height, hire a professional to perform the
pruning.Failuretodosocouldresultindeath
orseriouspersonalinjury.

Aspringpoleisanylog,branch,rootedstump,or
saplingwhichisbentundertensionbyotherwood
sothatitspringsbackifthewoodholdingitiscut
orremoved.Onafallentree,arootedstumphas
ahighpotentialofspringingbacktotheupright
positionduringthebuckingcuttoseparatethelog
fromthestump.Watchoutforspringpoles,they
aredangerous.
