PROBLEM PROBABLE CAUSE CORRECTIVE ACTION
The engine cannot
start, the engine
is difficult to start,
loses power, or
the engine power
is fluctuating.
Spark plug end is loose or
disconnected from the spark
plug.
Attach the end to the spark plug.
Engine controls (fuel supply,
throttle lever, choke, engine
brake, etc.) are not in the correct
position.
Set to the correct position.
Fuel tank is empty. Fill tank with fuel.
Incorrect start procedure. Follow the instructions in Engine Start chapter.
Carburettor is overloaded with
fuel.
Wait a few minutes/Try starting without the choke.
The fuel tank vent is obstructed. Clean or replace the fuel tank cap.
Dirty spark plug/Incorrect spark
plug gap.
Clean, set the correct gap between the electrodes -
see the Specification.
Loose spark plug. Tighten the spark plug.
Defective spark plug. Replace the spark plug.
Obstructed air or fuel filter. Clean/replace the filter.
Poor fuel mixture. Refuel according to the instructions.
Engine overheated. Cold air flow is limited.
Remove dirt from openings in the vents of engine
cover, fan cover and other air flow passages.
Excessive fume/
smoke generation.
In a cold engine. This is a normal phenomenon.
Poor fuel mixture. Refuel according to the instructions.

• Petrol and oil is hazardous waste. Dispose it in right way. It does not belong to house garbage.
