Operation
Battery Isolator
The generator will be supplied with the battery isola-
tor turned off, isolating the battery power to the set.
Prior to use or after routine maintenance or servicing
always turn the battery isolator on, so allowing the
battery to power the generator’s control module and
respond to a mains failure.
To turn the battery isolator on:
1. Open the Right Hand Service Access Door
2. The Battery Isolator is located midway in the com-
partment on a base mounted bracket. Identifi ed by
the Battery Isolator Label
3. To switch the battery isolator on turn the switch so
that the switch is horizontal as per the label.
NOTICE
It is recommended to turn the battery
isolator off prior to working on the
generator or before conducting
maintenance or servicing
To isolate the battery turn the switch
to the vertical uproght position.
Installations
Installation of the generator is to be made by qualifi ed
personnel in accordance with appropriate regulations
e.g., Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity
Regulations 2002 (S.I. 2002/2665), and Electrical
Safety regulations cited previously in this document
Pre-Operation Checks
Before carrying out the following checks, ensure that
the control module is switched off and/or the battery is
isolator is switched off.
Engine Oil
Check the oil level BEFORE EACH USE with the
generator on a level surface and the engine stopped.
Engine oil should have properties of API classifi cation
CG-4 grade or higher. SAE10W-40 is recommended
for general, all temperature use. The use of lubricants
other than the recommended may shorten the engine
ife.
To check the oil level:
1. If the generator has been running then wait for 10
minutes to allow the oil to drain back into the oil
pan.
2. Access the engine via Service Access doors
3. Remove the dipstick (a) and wipe the dipstick
clean.

4. Insert the dipstick back into the dip tube and then
remove again, checking where the oil level lies on
between the minimum and maximum positions on
the dip stick.

5. If the level is low, remove the oil fi ller cap (b) and
top up.
