Overview

This document serves as the user manual for the Hiboy S2 Lite Electric Scooter, providing comprehensive instructions for its assembly, operation, maintenance, and safety.

Function Description

The Hiboy S2 Lite is an electric scooter designed for leisure and personal transportation. It functions by converting electrical energy from a battery into mechanical motion, propelling the rider. The scooter is equipped with a motor, a control panel for various functions, and a braking system for safe operation. It is designed to be foldable for easy storage and carrying.

Usage Features

The scooter's operation begins with unfolding the stem until it clicks into place, followed by unfolding the kickstand for support. The handlebar is then slid onto the stem and secured with four screws using an Allen wrench. To power on, the user unplugs the charger and clicks the power button; holding it for three seconds powers it off. The control panel features five power lights indicating the battery level.

Riding modes can be changed by double-tapping the mode button: green indicates sports mode, while no light indicates comfort mode. A triple-tap activates or deactivates the cruise control function. The front and side LED lights can be toggled with a single tap of the light button.

For riding, safety gear, including a helmet, is strongly recommended. The user stands on the base with one foot and propels themselves with the other to initiate gliding. Once gliding, both feet are placed on the deck, and the accelerator is pressed. A speed of at least 3.1 mph (5 km/h) is required to engage the throttle. To turn, the rider tilts their body in the steering direction and slowly turns the handlebar. To slow down, the throttle is released gradually. For sudden braking, the rear brake is stepped on, and the brake lever is pressed down.

The manual emphasizes several riding notices for safety:

  • Avoid riding in the rain.
  • Maintain a medium or low speed (5 mph) over speed bumps, elevator door sills, bumpy roads, or uneven surfaces, slightly bending knees to absorb shock.
  • Do not press the throttle while walking with the scooter.
  • Always steer clear of obstacles.
  • Be aware of doors, elevators, and other overhead obstacles.
  • Do not accelerate when going downhill.
  • Avoid hanging bags or heavy items on the handlebar.
  • Keep both feet on the deck at all times.

Dangerous actions explicitly prohibited include:

  • Riding in traffic lanes or residential areas shared with vehicles and pedestrians.
  • Violently turning the handlebar during high-speed riding.
  • Taking hands off the handlebar.
  • Riding up or down stairs, or jumping over obstacles.
  • Riding in puddles deeper than 0.79 inches.
  • Riding with passengers, including children.
  • Lending the scooter to inexperienced individuals without proper instruction and safety gear.

The scooter is a leisure device, but in public areas, it is considered a vehicle, subject to associated risks. Users are advised to follow all instructions, traffic laws, and regulations. Caution, proper speed, and distance are crucial, especially in unfamiliar environments. Pedestrians' right of way must be respected; users should ring their bell when approaching from behind, slow down, and pass from the left (in countries where vehicles drive on the right). When crossing pedestrians, users should keep to the right at low speed or dismount.

Maintenance Features

The manual provides detailed instructions for charging, cleaning, battery maintenance, storage, and disposal.

Charging:

To charge, open the rubber plug, insert the charging plug, and then seal the plug after charging. The LED light on the charger changes from red (charging) to green when fully charged. The charging process automatically cuts off after a full charge, but prolonged charging is not recommended. The charging port should not be wet, and it should be covered when not in use.

Cleaning and Storage:

For stains, wipe the scooter body with a damp cloth. Stubborn stains can be removed with toothpaste and a toothbrush, then wiped clean. Harsh chemicals like alcohol, gasoline, kerosene, or corrosive solvents should not be used to prevent damage. High-pressure water sprays are also prohibited. During cleaning, ensure the scooter is off, the charging cable is unplugged, and the rubber flap is closed to prevent electric shock or other issues from water leakage. When not in use, store the scooter indoors in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight, overheating, or overcooling, which can shorten battery life.

Battery Maintenance:

Only original battery packs should be used, as alternatives can pose safety risks. Avoid touching the battery contacts, dismantling, or puncturing the casing, and keep contacts away from metal objects to prevent short circuits, which can cause damage or injury. Use only the original power adapter to prevent damage or fire. Used batteries must be disposed of properly according to local regulations to protect the environment. After each use, fully charge the battery to prolong its lifespan.

Storage and Disposal:

Store the scooter in a cool, dry place between 14°F and 104°F. High humidity can cause condensation or water accumulation, damaging the battery. The device is not intended for use above 2000m elevation. Prolonged exposure to UV rays, rain, and the elements can damage the enclosure materials. Store indoors when not in use. Avoid fully exhausting the battery before recharging. If the battery is low, charge it as soon as possible. Charge the scooter every other month to preserve the battery.

Folding and Carrying:

To fold, ensure the scooter is turned off. Unlock the folding mechanism, and bend the handlebar stem to hook the buckle on the rear fender. To unfold, press the bell trigger to release it from the buckle, erect the handlebar, and lock the folding structure. The scooter can be carried by holding the handlebar stem with one or both hands. If the handlebar or stem sways during riding, the screws on the folding mechanism should be tightened with an Allen wrench.

Pre-ride Checks:

Before each use, check for loose parts, low battery alerts, excessive wear, strange sounds, malfunctions, or other abnormal conditions. If any are noted, stop riding immediately. The manual also includes a warning about the "Risk of Fire - No User Serviceable Parts."
