Safety Information
SAFETY INFORMATION
To help prevent injury and/or equipment damage, obey these warnings:
• Warning—Some safety features of the bed may not function or
may not operate as intended with mattresses that are not
designed specifically for this bed. Check with the mattress
manufacturer to make sure that the safety features of the bed
have been tested and verified to operate correctly with the
replacement mattress.
• Warning—Overlays reduce the effective height of the siderails.
When you use an overlay, evaluate the patient for risk of falls.
• Warning—Evaluate patients for entrapment risk according to
facility protocol, and monitor patients appropriately. When
siderails are available, ensure that all siderails are fully latched
when in the raised position.
Siderails are intended to be a reminder to the patient of the mattress's
edges, not a patient-restraining device. When appropriate, Hill-Rom
recommends that medical personnel determine the proper methods
necessary to ensure a patient remains safely in bed.
• Warning—Follow the product manufacturer’s instructions.
• Warning—Do not use a mattress with a damaged cover.
• Warning—Clean the mattress in accordance with facility
protocols and applicable government regulations for blood
borne pathogens.
• Warning—Only facility-authorized persons should service the
AccuMax Quantum VPC Mattress or the AccuMax Quantum
VPC Mattress with Airport.
• Warning—Examine and disinfect the mattress between patient
use.
• Warning—The mattress cover should be periodically examined
to make sure there are no holes or tears that expose the topper.
• Warning—Do not carry the patient with the mattress while using
the mattress handles. The carry handles are not evacuation
handles.
