Overview

This document describes the Hisense HDGE80H dryer, a household appliance designed for drying laundry.

Function Description

The dryer operates using a heat pump system to heat the air, which consists of a compressor and a heat exchanger. This system efficiently extracts moisture from laundry, accumulating it in a condensate tank. The drying process involves several steps: heeding laundry labels, preparing laundry, choosing a drying program, selecting extra functions, starting the program, and finally, the program's end.

The dryer offers various drying programs tailored to different fabric types and desired dryness levels, including Cotton (Storage, Standard, Easy Iron), Mix (Storage, Easy Iron), Wool, Delicates, Air Refresh, Down Wear, Baby Care, Sportswear, Shirts, and timed drying programs (90', 60', 30'). The "Air Refresh" program operates without heat, suitable for refreshing laundry.

Extra functions enhance drying flexibility:

  • EXTRA DRY: Adjusts the dryness level, extending the drying cycle.
  • HALF LOAD: Optimizes drying for smaller loads, affecting the displayed drying time.
  • START DELAY: Allows users to set a desired start time for the drying program, ranging from 0 to 6 hours in 30-minute steps, and from 6 to 24 hours in 1-hour steps.
  • ANTI CREASE: Prevents creasing if laundry cannot be removed immediately after the program, with options for 1h, 2h, or 3h. This function automatically deactivates when the door is opened.
  • CHILD LOCK: Prevents accidental changes to settings during operation.

The dryer is equipped with an automatic switch-off system in case of overheating. If the net filter is clogged, this system may activate, requiring filter cleaning and a cool-down period before restarting.

Important Technical Specifications

The rating plate, located on the front wall of the dryer door opening, provides specific technical details. General dimensions and weight are as follows:

  • Width: 600 mm
  • Height: 850 mm
  • Dryer depth (a): 625 mm
  • Depth with door closed: 653 mm
  • Depth with door open (b): 1134 mm
  • Weight: XX/YY kg (depending on the model)
  • Refrigerant type: R450a
  • Amount of refrigerant: 0.33 kg
  • Total GWP (global warming potential): 604
  • CO2 equivalent: 0.200 t
  • Maximum load: See rating plate (e.g., 8 kg for Cotton programs, 3.5 kg for Mix programs, 2 kg for Wool, 1 kg for Delicates, 2 kg for Air Refresh, 1.5 kg for Down Wear, 4 kg for Baby Care, 3 kg for Sportswear, 2 kg for Shirts, 4 kg for Timed Drying, 5 kg for Bedding).

The dryer requires a 220-240 V ~ XX Hz power supply. It is rated IPX4.

Usage Features

  • Installation: The dryer should be installed in a well-ventilated room with a temperature between 10°C and 25°C, ensuring adequate clearance (at least 10 cm from walls) and placed on a level, stable, solid base. It must not be installed behind a lockable or sliding door that restricts full opening. After installation, it should stand still for two hours before connecting to power.
  • Loading: Laundry should be sorted by fabric type and thickness. Buttons and zips must be closed, ribbons tied, and pockets turned inside out. Delicate items should be placed in a special-purpose laundry bag. The drum should only contain laundry.
  • Drying in a Basket (Optional): An optional drying basket can be used for items like sports shoes or slippers that should not be tumbled. The maximum load for the basket is 2.5 kg.
  • Condensate Drainage: Moisture is collected in a condensate tank. An indicator light (symbol 9) warns when the tank is full. The condensate can be drained manually or automatically by connecting a discharge hose to a drain at a height of no more than 80 cm from the floor. Water from the condensate tank is not potable but can be used for ironing if filtered.
  • Personal Settings: Users can store preferred program and function combinations by pressing and holding the START/PAUSE button for five seconds. The acoustic signal volume can also be adjusted (0-3 levels).
  • Safety: Always remove objects like lighters and matches from pockets. Do not dry laundry soiled with flammable substances. The dryer is not intended for use by children or persons with reduced capabilities without supervision. The door glass and the back of the dryer can become hot during operation. Never stop a drying cycle prematurely unless items are quickly removed and spread out to dissipate heat.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance and longevity.

  • Filter System: The dryer has a filtering system to prevent impurities from entering the heat exchanger. This includes a net filter in the door, a heat pump filter, and the condensate tank.
  • Cleaning the Net Filter: The net filter (7) in the door must be cleaned after each drying cycle. This involves opening the filter housing, pulling out the filter, gently scraping off lint, and cleaning the filter housing and door gasket if necessary, before reinserting the filter.
  • Cleaning the Heat Pump Filter: The heat pump filter (9) should be cleaned at least after every five drying cycles. This involves opening the outer cover, rotating levers to remove the inside cover, pulling out the foam filter, washing it under running water, drying it, and then reassembling. An absorbent cloth should be placed on the floor during cleaning as some water may spill.
  • Cleaning the Heat Exchanger: The metal fins of the heat exchanger should be cleaned periodically (recommended every twelve months) using a vacuum cleaner and a soft brush attachment. Protection gloves should be worn due to sharp parts.
  • Emptying the Condensate Tank: The condensate tank (1) must be emptied after each drying cycle if not connected to a drain. This involves pulling out the tank, turning it upside down over a basin, and pulling out the spout for easier emptying. Never add chemicals or fragrances to the condensate tank.
  • General Cleaning: The dryer exterior should be cleaned with a soft, damp cotton cloth. Do not use solvents or cleaning agents that could damage the dryer, and never clean it with a jet of water.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting table for common issues and error codes (E0-E8, Full, PF), guiding users on how to resolve them or when to contact service.
  • Servicing: For any defects or repairs, only approved spare parts by authorized manufacturers should be used. Repairs should only be carried out by trained experts. The warranty does not cover damage from incorrect connection, use, or servicing by unauthorized persons.
