This document describes the Hisense Wine Storage Appliance, model RW17W4NSWGF, a specialized unit designed exclusively for the storage of wine and similar applications. It is intended for use in various environments such as kitchen areas in shops, offices, hotels, motels, residential settings, bed and breakfast environments, and catering applications.
Function Description
The Hisense Wine Storage Appliance is a dedicated wine cooler that maintains optimal conditions for wine preservation. It features a single-phase 230V/50Hz power supply and is equipped with a 3-prong grounding plug for electrical safety. The appliance uses Hydrocarbon Refrigerant type R600a in its cooling unit, requiring servicing by authorized technicians only.
The appliance is designed to be a built-in unit, requiring installation within a cabinet or similar counter. It has a capacity to store up to 46 standard Bordeaux 750ml bottles, though actual capacity may vary depending on bottle size and shape. The unit includes six shelves, each with eight slots, for organized bottle placement. The door features anti-UV darkened double glass to protect wine from light exposure.
The temperature range for the appliance is from 5°C (41°F) to 18°C (64°F), with a factory preset of 12°C (54°F). It is important to note that the appliance may not function properly if the set temperature is higher than the ambient temperature. There may be a slight temperature variance of 2°C (3.6°F) to 3°C (5.4°F) between the top and bottom shelves.
Usage Features
The appliance is controlled via a display panel located in the middle of the refrigerator chamber. This panel includes a standby key, a light on/off key, temperature control keys (up and down for both upper and lower sections), a cancel alarm key, and a °F/°C change key.
Display and Controls:
- Upon power-on, the display panel illuminates for 3 seconds, beeps, and then enters normal display status.
- Icons are always lit until the screen activates.
- The display activates when a button is pressed or the door is opened. If no action is taken for 60 seconds, the display will enter screen saver mode.
- Each valid button press emits a short sound.
- Temperature settings are reflected on the display and take effect after 10 seconds without further key presses.
Standby Mode:
- To enter standby mode, press and hold the standby key for more than 3 seconds. The buzzer will beep, and the display will show "OF".
- To exit standby mode, press and hold the standby key for more than 3 seconds, and the buzzer will ring.
- In standby mode, cooling stops. If the appliance will not be used for a long time, it is recommended to remove the wine and unplug the unit.
Light On/Off Key:
- This button controls the interior light. The light automatically turns off 10 seconds after the door is closed to minimize wine exposure to light.
Temperature Measure Change (°F / °C):
- The temperature display can be switched between Fahrenheit and Celsius using the dedicated key.
Temperature Regulation:
- Temperature can be adjusted using the "up" and "down" buttons. The LED readout shows the current set temperature. Each press of the UP button increases the temperature by 1°C or 1°F, while the DOWN button decreases it by the same amount.
Over Temperature Alarm:
- The appliance has an over-temperature alarm function to prevent wine quality degradation. When an alarm occurs, press the Cancel Alarm Key to silence the alarm. The "!" light will change from blinking to constant once the appliance cools to the required temperature. If the problem persists, contact customer service.
Door Alarm:
- If the fridge door remains open for more than 2 minutes, a door alarm will sound (3 beeps per minute) and will automatically stop after 8 minutes. Closing the door clears the alarm. To conserve energy, avoid keeping the door open for extended periods.
Handle Installation:
- The handle needs to be installed by the user. This involves opening the door, removing the door gasket on the non-hinged side, aligning the handle with the screw hole, and securing it with the provided screws using a Philips screwdriver.
Bottle Placement:
- Bottles should be placed on the shelves as shown in the manual. To prevent bottles from rolling and breaking, no more than 6 bottles should be placed at the bottom of the refrigerator compartment. The maximum loading capacity for each shelf is 33lb.
Tips for Keeping Wine:
- Store wine in the dark.
- Lay bottles down to prevent corks from drying.
- Avoid frequent or prolonged use of the appliance light.
- Handle bottles with care to avoid agitating the wine.
- Follow recommendations for optimum storage temperature based on wine type.
Door Reversing:
- The door opening direction can be changed from right to left. This process requires disconnecting the appliance from power and involves carefully lifting the door, unscrewing grille cover fixing screws, transforming the bottom hinge, and reattaching components. Specific tools like an 8mm socket wrench, thin-blade screwdriver, putty knife, Philips head screwdriver, and adjustable wrench are needed.
Maintenance Features
General Cleaning and Care:
- For hygienic reasons, the appliance (including exterior and interior accessories) should be cleaned regularly.
- Before cleaning, the appliance must be powered off and unplugged to prevent electrical shock.
Cleaning the Wine Refrigerator (Interior):
- Unplug the appliance and remove bottles.
- Wash the interior with a warm water and baking soda solution (approximately 2 tablespoons of baking soda to 4 cups of water).
- Wash shelves with a mild detergent solution.
- Periodically wipe the bottom part of the storage area, as condensation may collect due to the design for retaining humidity.
- DO NOT use sharp objects to scrape off frost or ice, as this can damage the inner lining. Frost should be removed using a scraper, or by allowing solid ice to thaw through defrosting the appliance.
Exterior Cleaning:
- To maintain appearance, clean the exterior regularly.
- Spray water onto a cleaning cloth instead of directly on the appliance surface for even moisture distribution.
- Clean the door with a mild detergent and wipe it dry with a soft cloth.
- DO NOT use thinners, car detergents, Clorox, oils, abrasive cleansers, or organic solvents like Benzene for cleaning, as these can damage the surface and pose a fire risk.
Ventilation:
- Maintain good ventilation around the appliance to dissipate heat and improve cooling efficiency. It is recommended to have at least 1/2 inch of space from the back to the wall, 1/2 inch from the top, and 1/4 inch from the sides.
- Keep all ventilation openings clear of obstruction.
Troubleshooting:
- The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the wine being too warm, heavy frost buildup, unusual noises, and water on the floor. It suggests possible causes and remedies before contacting service.
- Users are warned not to attempt repairs themselves. If problems persist after basic checks, contact a qualified electrician, authorized service technician, or the store of purchase.
- If the LED light is broken, it must be replaced by a qualified service technician.
Disposal:
- The appliance must not be disposed of as household waste. It should be taken to an appropriate waste collection point for recycling electrical and electronic equipment.
- Before disposal, pull out the power cord, cut it off, and discard it.
- Refrigerant and insulation gases are flammable and must be disposed of professionally to prevent eye injuries or ignition. Ensure the refrigerant circuit tubing is not damaged.
- Remove the plug and any locks or catches to prevent young children from being trapped inside.
