Overview

This document serves as a comprehensive guide for the Hisense Wine Storage Appliance, model RW17W4NWLG0, detailing its function, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Hisense Wine Storage Appliance is designed exclusively for the storage of wine and similar applications, suitable for various environments such as kitchen areas in shops, offices, hotels, motels, residential settings, bed and breakfast environments, and catering applications. It functions as a wine cooler, maintaining specific temperature ranges to ensure optimal conditions for wine preservation. The appliance utilizes a cooling system with hydrocarbon refrigerant type R600a, emphasizing the importance of proper ventilation and professional servicing due to its flammable components. It is equipped with metal shelves for bottle placement and an anti-UV darkened double glass door to protect wine from light exposure. The appliance includes an over-temperature alarm function to prevent conditions that could affect wine quality and a door alarm to alert users if the door remains open for an extended period.

Usage Features

The appliance features a user-friendly control panel located in the middle of the refrigerator chamber. Upon power-on, the display panel illuminates all elements for 3 seconds, emits a short beep, and then enters normal display status. Icons remain lit until the screen activates. A screen saver activates after 60 seconds of no button press or door action, which can be exited by any button press or door action. Each valid button press emits a short sound, and temperature settings take effect and are stored after 10 seconds of operation without further key presses.

Temperature Control:

Users can adjust the desired temperature by pressing the "UP" or "DOWN" buttons. The LED readout displays the previously set temperature, and each press of the button increases or decreases the temperature by 1°C or 1°F. The temperature range for the appliance is from 5°C (41°F) to 18°C (64°F), with a factory preset of 12°C (54°F). It's important to note that the appliance may not operate properly if the set temperature is higher than the ambient temperature. There might be a 2°C (3.6°F) to 3°C (5.4°F) variance between the top and bottom shelves.

Temperature Measure Change:

The display setting can be switched between Fahrenheit (°F) and Celsius (°C) degrees using the dedicated "F/°C Change key".

Light Control:

The interior light can be turned on or off by pressing the "Light On/Off key". The light automatically turns off 10 seconds after the door is closed to minimize wine exposure to light.

Standby Mode:

To conserve energy, the appliance can be put into standby mode by pressing and holding the standby key for more than 3 seconds. The buzzer will beep, and the display will show "OF". To exit standby mode, press and hold the standby key again for more than 3 seconds, and the buzzer will ring. In standby mode, cooling stops, so wine should be removed, and the unit unplugged if not used for a long time.

Alarm Functions:

  • Over Temperature Alarm: If an over-temperature condition occurs, the alarm sounds. This can be canceled by pressing the "Cancel Alarm Key". The alarm tone stops, and the "!" light changes from blinking to constant once the appliance cools to the required temperature.
  • Door Alarm: The door alarm sounds if the fridge door is open for over 2 minutes. The buzzer will sound 3 times per minute and stop automatically after 8 minutes. Closing the door clears the alarm.

Bottle Placement:

The appliance is equipped with 5 shelves, each with 8 slots, and additional slots at the bottom. Bottles should be placed horizontally to keep corks moist. To prevent bottles from rolling down and breaking, no more than 6 bottles should be placed at the bottom of the refrigerate room. The maximum loading for each shelf type is 33lb.

Door Reversal:

The door opening direction can be changed from right to left. This process involves disconnecting the appliance from power, carefully lifting the door off its hinges, unscrewing the grille cover, transforming the bottom hinge from right to left, and reattaching components. Specific tools like an 8mm socket wrench, thin-blade screwdriver, putty knife, Phillips head screwdriver, and adjustable wrench are required.

Maintenance Features

General Cleaning:

For hygienic reasons, the appliance, including its exterior and interior accessories, should be cleaned regularly. Before cleaning, the appliance must be powered off and unplugged to avoid electrical shock.

  • Interior Cleaning: Unplug the appliance and remove bottles. Wash the inside with a warm water and baking soda solution (approximately 2 tablespoons of baking soda to 4 cups of water). Shelves should be washed with a mild detergent solution. The bottom part of the storage area may also need periodic wiping due to humidity and condensation.
  • Exterior Cleaning: To maintain appearance, regularly clean the exterior. Spray water onto a cleaning cloth (not directly on the surface of the appliance) to ensure even moisture distribution. Clean the door with a mild detergent and wipe it dry with a soft cloth.

Important Cleaning Precautions:

  • Do not use sharp objects as they may scratch the surface.
  • Avoid using thinner, car detergent, Clorox, oils, abrasive cleansers, or organic solvents such as Benzene for cleaning, as these can damage the surface and potentially cause fire.
  • Do not use detergents or abrasive powders, as they will damage the finish.

Defrosting:

Do not use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate the defrosting process, other than those recommended by the manufacturer. Do not use sharp instruments to scrape off frost or ice; allow solid ice to thaw by defrosting the appliance.

Ventilation:

Maintain good ventilation around the appliance for heat dissipation. It is advisable to have at least 150mm of space from the back to the wall, 150mm from the top, and 75mm from the sides. Avoid locating the appliance in damp areas, direct sunlight, rain, or frost, and away from heat sources like stoves, fires, or heaters. Ensure ventilation openings are clear of obstruction.

Electrical Connection:

The appliance requires a single-phase 230V/50Hz power supply with a 3-prong grounding plug. It must be grounded, and the grounding prong should not be removed or modified. The power plug must be accessible and should not be squashed or damaged. Do not use extension cords or ungrounded (two-prong) adapters. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or a similar qualified person.

Servicing and Repair:

Any electrical work or repairs should be carried out by a qualified electrician or an authorized service technician. Only genuine spare parts should be used. Users should not attempt to repair the appliance themselves to avoid injury or malfunctioning. The appliance contains hydrocarbons in its cooling unit, so maintenance and recharging must be performed by authorized technicians.

Disposal:

The appliance should not be disposed of as household waste. It must be taken to an appropriate waste collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. Packaging materials with the recycle symbol are recyclable and should be disposed of in suitable containers. Before disposal, pull out the power cord from the socket and cut it off. Refrigerants and gases in the insulation must be disposed of professionally, ensuring that the refrigerant circuit tubing is not damaged.
