Overview

This document serves as a user manual for the HOMCOM A90-198 indoor exercise bike, identified by the model number INada082V01_UK. It provides comprehensive instructions for assembly, safe operation, and maintenance of the unit.

Function Description

The HOMCOM A90-198 is a home-use exercise bike designed for cardiovascular workouts. It allows users to engage in cycling exercises indoors, providing a controlled environment for fitness training. The bike features adjustable resistance, enabling users to customize the intensity of their workouts. A built-in monitor tracks various exercise metrics, offering feedback on performance and progress. The design emphasizes stability and user comfort, with adjustable components to accommodate different body types.

Usage Features

The exercise bike is designed for individual home use, with a maximum user weight capacity of 275 lbs (125 kg). It is important to note that this bike does not free-wheel, meaning the pedals continue to move as long as the flywheel is in motion. An emergency brake, integrated into the tension knob, allows for immediate stopping of the bike during exercise by pulling up or pushing down.

The bike's computer monitor provides several key functions to track workout progress:

  • SCAN: Cycles through all available functions (TIME, SPEED, DISTANCE, TOTAL DIST, PULSE, CALORIES).
  • TIME: Displays the duration of the current workout.
  • SPEED: Shows the current cycling speed.
  • DISTANCE: Tracks the distance covered during the current exercise session.
  • TOTAL DIST: Displays the total accumulated distance from all workouts.
  • PULSE: Monitors the user's heart rate via sensors.
  • CALORIES: Estimates the number of calories burned during the workout.

To operate the computer, two AA batteries (not provided) are required. Users can select specific functions by pressing the MODE button. Holding the MODE button for 4 seconds resets the computer. The computer automatically turns off after 4 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery power and can be restarted by pressing any key. Heart rate monitoring is achieved by placing thumbs on the heart rate sensor.

Resistance adjustment is a key feature, allowing users to increase or decrease workout intensity by turning the tension control knob to the right (harder) or left (easier).

The bike offers several adjustable components to ensure a comfortable and effective workout for various users:

  • Seat Post and Seat: The seat post (8) can be inserted into the frame (1) and tightened with a knob (10). The seat (9) is then placed onto the seat post and secured with a wrench (27). Users should adjust the seat to their height requirements, ensuring the adjustment knob is locked tight and the seat is secure.
  • Handlebar Post and Handlebar: The handlebar supporter (12) and lower phone cover (11) are inserted into the frame and tightened with a knob. An Allen wrench (25) is used to lock the upper limit screw (13). The handlebar (14) is then secured to the handlebar supporter (12) using combination screws (15) and a wrench (24). The handlebar post should also be adjusted to the user's height, with the adjustment knob locked tight and the handlebar secure.
  • Pedals: The pedals (7) are screwed into the cranks. The right foot pedal (7R) is screwed in clockwise, while the left foot pedal (7L) is screwed in counterclockwise.
  • Stabilizers: The front stabilizer (5) and rear stabilizer (6) are fastened to the main frame (1) using bolts (4), washers (3), and cap nuts (2).
  • Adjust Mat: If the bike is unstable during use, the height of the adjust mats (23) can be adjusted to ensure stability and levelness with the floor.

Safety is paramount, and users are advised to read the entire manual before assembly and use. Important precautions include keeping children and pets away from the equipment, not leaving them unsupervised, and ensuring the appliance is not used as a toy. Users should wear suitable clothing and footwear, tying all laces/cords correctly to prevent entanglement. If dizziness, nausea, chest pains, or any other symptoms occur, exercise should be stopped immediately, and medical attention sought. The bike should be used on a level, solid surface, preferably with a mat. A parameter distance of 3 feet (1 meter) is required around the unit during operation. The bike is not suitable for therapeutic use, and a physician should be consulted before starting an exercise program, especially for individuals over 35 or with health problems.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for prolonging the life of the spin bike and preventing injury. The manual outlines several routine maintenance tasks:

  1. Cleaning after use: After each use, the bike should be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth. This prevents moisture buildup, which can lead to corrosion over time.
  2. Cleaning the Computer Display: The computer display should be cleaned with a soft cloth and an anti-static computer spray to remove dust and fingerprints. Harsh chemicals should be avoided as they can damage the protective coating and cause static buildup, potentially harming internal components.
  3. Stabilizer Check: Before each use, the front and back stabilizers should be checked to ensure the bike remains stable and level with the floor.
  4. Tightening Fasteners: Loose nuts, bolts, saddle adjustment locks, pedals, and handlebars should be checked and tightened regularly to ensure they are secure and prevent injury.
  5. Battery Disposal: Spent batteries are considered hazardous waste and must be disposed of correctly, not in regular trash.
  6. Brake Pad Inspection: Before every use, the brake pads should be examined for signs of wear. Brake pads are susceptible to damage and will need replacement over time.
  7. Replacement Parts: For replacement parts, users should contact the distributor.

The manual also emphasizes the importance of functional and visual inspections after assembly is complete. All warning labels should be reviewed, and any damaged, illegible, or removed labels should be replaced, obtainable from the Parts & Service location.
