  If your Home Decorators Collection Fan isn't starting, there are a few things you can check: First, inspect the main and branch circuit fuses or breakers. Next, check the line wire connections to the fan and the switch wire connections in the switch housing. Also, verify the battery in the remote control is working. Make sure you're within the normal operating range of 10-20 feet for the remote. Finally, turn off the power supply before checking the dip switch settings.

Make sure the wire nut connections aren't rattling against each other or the inside of the switch housing. Allow a 24-hour “breaking in” period, as most new fan noises disappear during this time. If you're using a light kit, ensure the screws securing the glassware are tight and the light bulbs are secure. Confirm the canopy isn't touching the ceiling, maintaining a short distance. Lastly, ensure your outlet box is secure and rubber isolator pads were used between the mounting plate and outlet box.
