How to fix Homelite Trimmer string that won't advance?
    • M
      Mary BallardAug 18, 2025
There are several reasons why the string might not advance. 1. The string may be welded to itself, in which case you should lubricate it with silicone spray. 2. There might not be enough string on the spool, so install more string. 3. The string could be worn too short; pull the strings while alternately pressing down on and releasing the spool retainer. 4. The string may be tangled on the spool; remove it and rewind it. 5. The engine speed may be too slow; advance the string at full throttle.

What causes a Homelite F2035 spool retainer to be hard to turn?
    • A
      Amy Stein MDAug 21, 2025
If the spool retainer is hard to turn, the screw threads may be dirty or damaged. Clean the threads and lubricate them with grease. If there's no improvement, replace the spool retainer.

Why does my Homelite Trimmer engine smoke and lack full speed?
    • M
      Maria Williams MDAug 25, 2025
This issue could be due to several factors. First, ensure you're using fresh fuel and the correct 2-cycle oil mix. If that's not the problem, try cleaning the air filter. Additionally, you can attempt to turn the “H” needle clockwise 1/16 - 1/8 turn.

What to do if Homelite Trimmer has oil drips from the silencer?
    • M
      Matthew ShermanAug 28, 2025
Oil dripping from the silencer can occur for a few reasons. Ensure you operate the trimmer at full throttle. Also, verify that you are using fresh fuel and the correct 2-cycle oil mix. Another potential cause is a dirty air filter, so try cleaning it. Finally, the carburetor may need adjustment; turn the “H” needle clockwise 1/16 - 1/8 turn.

Why Homelite Trimmer starts but won't accelerate?
    • S
      Spencer EricksonAug 31, 2025
If your engine starts but won't accelerate, the carburetor may need adjustment. Try turning the “H” needle anticlockwise 1/16 turn. If the “L” low needle cannot be turned anticlockwise, do not force plastic limiter caps and contact a service.

    • E
      Edward Pena DDSSep 7, 2025
If your engine only runs at high speed at half choke, the carburetor likely needs adjustment. Turn the “H” needle anticlockwise 1/16 turn. If the “H” high needle cannot be turned anticlockwise, do not force plastic limiter caps and contact a service.

How to start my Homelite F2035 when it won't start?
    • J
      Jessica HillNov 13, 2025
First, check for a spark. Remove the spark plug, reattach the cap, and lay it on the metal cylinder. Pull the starter rope and watch for a spark at the tip. If there's no spark, try again with a new spark plug. Also, push the primer bulb until it's full of fuel. If it doesn't fill, the fuel delivery system might be blocked, and you should contact a service dealer. If the primer bulb fills, the engine may be flooded. Remove the spark plug and turn the trimmer so the hole faces the ground. Move the choke lever to “RUN” and pull the starter cord 10 to 15 times to clear excess fuel. Clean and reinstall the spark plug. Pull the starter three times with the choke lever at “RUN”. If it doesn't start, move the choke lever to “CHOKE” and repeat the normal starting procedure.
