How to fix Homelite Trimmer string that will not advance?
    • T
      Tiffany AvilaJul 29, 2025
If your Homelite Trimmer string will not advance, several issues could be the cause. First, the string might be welded to itself; lubricate it with silicone spray. Second, there might not be enough string on the spool; install more string. Third, the string could be worn too short; pull the strings while alternately pressing down on and releasing the spool retainer. Fourth, the string might be tangled on the spool; remove the string and rewind it. Lastly, the engine speed might be too slow; advance the string at full throttle.

If your Homelite Trimmer engine won't start, there are several possible reasons. First, there might be no spark. To check, remove the sparking plug, reattach the sparking plug cap, and lay the sparking plug on the metal cylinder. Pull the starter rope and look for a spark at the sparking plug tip. If there's no spark, try again with a new sparking plug. Another reason could be no fuel. Push the primer bulb until it's full of fuel. If it doesn't fill, the primary fuel delivery system might be blocked, and you should contact a servicing dealer. If the primer bulb does fill, the engine may be flooded. Remove the sparking plug, turn the trimmer so the sparking plug hole faces the ground, move the choke lever to “RUN”, and pull the starter cord 10 to 15 times to clear excess fuel. Clean and rei...
