How to fix Homelite 26CS Trimmer when engine will not start?
    • M
      matthewskellyAug 12, 2025
If your Homelite Trimmer engine won't start, there could be several reasons. First, check for spark by cleaning or replacing the spark plug and resetting the spark plug gap. Second, ensure the engine is getting fuel by pushing the primer bulb until it's full. If it doesn't fill, the fuel delivery system may be blocked, and you should contact an authorized service dealer. Finally, if the engine is flooded, set the choke lever to the START position, squeeze the trigger, and repeatedly pull the rope until the engine starts.

Why does grass wrap around drive shaft housing and string head on Homelite 26CS Trimmer?
    • L
      Lisa WilkinsonSep 12, 2025
If grass wraps around the drive shaft housing and string head of your Homelite Trimmer, it could be due to cutting tall grass at ground level. To prevent this, cut tall grass from the top down. Also, ensure you are operating the trimmer at full throttle.

    • A
      anthony35Aug 23, 2025
If the spool retainer on your Homelite Trimmer is hard to turn, the screw threads may be dirty or damaged. Try cleaning the threads and lubricating them with grease. If this doesn't improve the situation, replace the spool retainer.

Why Homelite Trimmer starts runs and accelerates but will not idle?
    • E
      ewilsonAug 27, 2025
If your Homelite Trimmer engine starts, runs, and accelerates but will not idle, it might be due to the idle speed screw on the carburetor needing adjustment. To fix this, turn the idle speed screw clockwise to increase the idle speed.

What to do if Homelite 26CS engine does not reach full speed and emits excessive smoke?
    • S
      Samuel NicholsAug 31, 2025
If your Homelite Trimmer engine does not reach full speed and emits excessive smoke, it could be due to several factors. First, ensure you are using the correct 50:1 fuel and lubricant mixture. Second, check the air filter screen and clean it if it's dirty. A fouled spark plug can also cause this issue, so clean or replace it and reset the spark plug gap. If the spark arrestor screen is dirty, you should contact an authorized servicing dealer.

Why Homelite 26CS line will not advance?
    • R
      richardsondaleSep 3, 2025
If the line on your Homelite Trimmer won't advance, there are several possible causes. The line might be welded to itself; try lubricating it with silicone spray. Also, make sure there's enough line on the spool by installing more line. If the line is worn too short, pull the lines while alternately pressing down on and releasing the spool retainer. Another reason could be that the line is tangled, so remove the line from the spool and rewind it. Lastly, ensure the engine speed isn't too slow by advancing the line at full throttle.

How to fix Homelite Trimmer if engine will not start?
    • J
      jeffrey96Nov 14, 2025
If your Homelite Trimmer engine won't start, begin by checking for a spark. Remove the spark plug, re-attach the spark plug cap, and lay the spark plug on the metal cylinder. Pull the starter rope and look for a spark at the spark plug tip. If there's no spark, try again with a new spark plug. Next, push the primer bulb until it's full of fuel. If it doesn't fill, the primary fuel delivery system might be blocked, and you should contact a servicing dealer. If the primer bulb fills, the engine may be flooded. Remove the spark plug, turn the trimmer so the spark plug hole faces the ground. Rotate the choke dial to the “RUN” position and pull the starter cord 10 to 15 times to clear excess fuel. Clean and reinstall the spark plug. Pull the starter three times with the choke dial at “RUN”. If ...
