Why does my Homelite Chainsaw engine not start?
    • P
      paulfitzgeraldAug 6, 2025
Your Homelite Chainsaw engine might not start due to a lack of spark or a flooded engine. Try cleaning or replacing the spark plug and resetting the spark plug gap. If the engine is flooded, turn the ignition switch OFF, remove the spark plug, move the choke lever to the run position, and pull the starter cord 15 to 20 times to clear excess fuel. Clean and reinstall the spark plug. Then, set the ignition switch to run, push and fully release the primer bulb 7 times, and pull the starter three times with the choke lever at run. If it still doesn't start, move the choke lever to FULL choke and repeat the normal starting procedure. If problems persist, try a new spark plug.

What to do if Homelite Chainsaw engine does not reach full speed and emits excessive smoke?
    • N
      nsandersAug 13, 2025
If your Homelite Chainsaw engine doesn't reach full speed and emits excessive smoke, it could be due to an incorrect lubricant/fuel mixture, a dirty air filter, a dirty spark arrestor screen, or the carburetor needing adjustment. Ensure you are using fresh fuel and the correct 2-cycle lubricant mix ratio. Clean the air filter. Clean the spark arrestor screen. If problems persist, it is recommended to contact an authorized service center for carburetor adjustment.

What to do if my Homelite HCS3335A bar and chain are running hot and smoking?
    • J
      James WallAug 19, 2025
If the bar and chain on your Homelite Chainsaw are running hot and smoking, it could be due to an empty chain lubricant tank, chain tension that is too tight, or a malfunctioning oiler. Ensure the lubricant tank is filled every time you fill the fuel tank. Adjust the chain tension. Run the saw at half throttle for 30 to 45 seconds, then stop it and check for lubricant dripping from the guide bar. If lubricant is present, the chain may be dull or the bar may be damaged. If no lubricant is present, contact an authorised service centre.

What to do if my Homelite Chainsaw starts and runs, but the chain is not rotating?
    • P
      Paula HardyAug 26, 2025
If your Homelite Chainsaw starts and runs, but the chain isn't rotating, the chain brake may be engaged, the chain tension may be too tight, the guide bar and chain assembly may be incorrect, the guide bar and/or chain may be damaged or the drive sprocket teeth may be damaged. First, release the chain brake. Next, adjust the chain tension. Inspect the guide bar and chain for damage. If problems persist, contact an authorised service centre for drive sprocket replacement.

Why Homelite HCS3335A Chainsaw engine starts, runs, and accelerates but will not idle and chain turns at idle?
    • B
      Brett HarperAug 30, 2025
If your Homelite Chainsaw engine starts, runs, and accelerates but won't idle, and the chain turns at idle, it's possible the carburetor needs adjustment or there's an air leak in the intake system. Try turning the idle speed screw “T” clockwise to increase the idle speed, or counter-clockwise to decrease it. If problems persist, contact an authorised service centre for a rebuild kit.
