How to fix a Homelite UT10549 Chainsaw that starts and runs but won't idle?

  If your Homelite Chainsaw starts, runs, and accelerates but won't idle, it might need a carburetor adjustment. Try turning the idle speed screw “T” clockwise to increase the idle speed. If that doesn't work, try turning the idle speed screw “T” counterclockwise to decrease the speed. If the problem persists, contact an authorized service center for a rebuild kit.

Why is my Homelite UT10549 bar and chain running hot and smoking?

  Your Homelite Chainsaw's bar and chain might be running hot and smoking due to several reasons: the chain oil tank could be empty (fill it every time you fill the fuel tank), the chain tension might be too tight (adjust it according to the manual's instructions), or the oiler may not be functioning properly. To check the oiler, run the saw at half throttle for 30-45 seconds, then stop it and see if lubricant is dripping from the SAFE-T-TIP® and guide bar. If there's no lubricant, contact an authorized service center. If lubricant is present, the chain may be dull or the bar may be damaged.

  If your Homelite Chainsaw engine starts and runs, but the chain isn't rotating, first check if the chain brake is engaged and release it. If the chain brake is not the reason, the chain tension may be too tight, so adjust it. Also, ensure the guide bar and chain are assembled correctly and inspect them for any damage. If the drive sprocket teeth are damaged, contact an authorized service center for drive sprocket replacement.
