Why is the string not advancing on my Homelite UT41799 Trimmer?

  If the string on your Homelite Trimmer isn't advancing with the EZ Line™ tap advance system, here's what might be happening: 1. The string might be stuck to itself. Try lubricating it with silicone spray. 2. You may not have enough string on the spool. You should install more string. 3. The string could be too short. Pull the strings while pressing down on and releasing the spool retainer. 4. The string might be tangled. Remove the string from the spool and rewind it. 5. The engine speed could be too slow. Try advancing the string at full throttle.

Why won't my Homelite Trimmer start when I press the switch trigger?

  If the motor of your Homelite Trimmer fails to start when you depress the switch trigger: 1. Check that the power cord is properly plugged in and the connection isn't loose. Plug in the power cord. 2. See if the household circuit breaker has tripped. Check the circuit breaker.

How to fix a hard-to-turn spool retainer on my Homelite Trimmer?

  If the spool retainer on your Homelite Trimmer is hard to turn when using the EZ Line™ tap advance system, the screw threads may be dirty or damaged. Clean the threads and lubricate them with grease. If that doesn't help, replace the spool retainer.

What to do if grass wraps around the string head of my Homelite UT41799 Trimmer?

  If grass is wrapping around the driveshaft housing and string head of your Homelite Trimmer, it could be due to: 1. Cutting tall grass at ground level. To prevent wrapping, cut tall grass from the top down. 2. Operating the trimmer at part throttle. Operate the trimmer at full throttle.
