Replacement of Spectrum Rack Input Module (RIM)
Replacement of one legacy Novar Spectrum RIM module requires installation of up to three XIO-RIM-S and one XIO-
RIMCT-s module.

Special Modes: None. Modes for XIO-RIM cover 8 digital inputs, 8 high
temp inputs, 4 low temp inputs and 3 pressure
inputs, or 4 high temperature plus 3 pressure inputs.
The XIO-RIMCT is dedicated for compressor current
loop transducer inputs.
Inputs: 16 digital inputs total including the 8
identified as compressor oil pressure switch
inputs.
8 hot gas high temp inputs, diode sensor
4 suction low temp inputs, diode sensor
3 suction pressure inputs, 1-5VDC
8 current loop inputs as compressor current
loop transducer inputs.
Set Module Config switches 7 & 8 on each
XIO-RIM-S to select the appropriate mode providing
the input types needed for the application. Gang the
modules together to expand modes until all required
input types are made available.
Replace low temp glass diode sensors with 2k
thermistor sensors. Replace high temp glass diode
sensors with 10k type 2 thermistor sensors.
Application
Programming:
Application programming can have links to 16
digital inputs, 8 high temp inputs, 4 low temp
inputs, 3 suction pressure inputs and 8 high
temp inputs on a single module.
Adjust application programming to create a new RIM
module at a new address as required to cover all
input modes used by the system. Each XIO-RIM can
be configured for a single input mode. (Reference
“Inputs” description above)
Application linking to input points must be moved
from original module to points on each of the new
modules according to the configured XIO-RIM input
mode.
For example, a full set of modules equivalent to a
single legacy RIM module becomes the following:
[RIM mode A] + [RIM mode B] + [RIM mode C] +
[RIMCT]
Power Source: 24VAC/6.5VA transformer. Replace with 24VAC/20VA transformer.
Mounting: Plastic Rail
17.25" L, 2.85" W, 1.1" D
DIN Rail
Multiple modules can be ganged together each with
dimensions per specification in this document.
