  If your Hotpoint Air Conditioner isn't cooling or heating the room, ensure that curtains, blinds, or furniture aren't blocking airflow. Try adjusting the temperature setting to be lower or higher. Clean the filters. Allow enough time for the unit to heat or cool the room. Make sure the vent door is closed. Check the dipswitch and wall thermostat settings. If these steps don't work, give the compressor about 15 minutes to start.

After a power outage, the compressor will restart after approximately 30 minutes, with a minimum compressor run time of 6 minutes.
