  If your Hotpoint dishwasher won't start or respond to commands, first, ensure it's properly plugged into the socket. If there was a power outage, press the START/Pause button to resume the cycle, as the dishwasher won't restart automatically. Also, make sure the dishwasher door is fully closed until you hear a click. If the door was opened for more than 4 seconds during a cycle, close it and press START/Pause. If it still doesn't respond, try switching the appliance off and on again after a minute, or unplug it for a minute and then plug it back in.
