Do you have a question about the Hotpoint RZS150P and is the answer not in the manual?
This document provides operating instructions for the Hotpoint RZS150G and RZS150P freezer models. It covers installation, general usage, maintenance, safety precautions, troubleshooting, guarantee information, and after-sales service contacts.
The Hotpoint RZS150G and RZS150P are freestanding freezer appliances designed for domestic use to store and freeze food products. The freezer compartment is equipped with multiple storage bins, allowing for organized storage of various food items. The appliance features a "SUPER FREEZE" function for rapid freezing of fresh food, helping to preserve its quality. A temperature control knob allows users to adjust the internal temperature, ranging from "warmest" (setting 1) to "coldest" (setting MAX). Indicator lights for "POWER," "SUPER FREEZE," and "WARNING" provide visual feedback on the appliance's operational status and potential issues. The appliance is designed to be earthed and connected to a suitable electrical supply, ensuring safe operation.
Installation and Positioning: Before initial use, the freezer must be properly positioned in a well-ventilated, humidity-free room, away from direct sunlight, electric stoves, or other heat sources. Specific clearances of at least 10 cm above and 5 cm on the sides from any furniture or walls are required to ensure adequate ventilation for the compressor and condenser, which generate heat. Spacers provided in the installation kit should be fitted to maintain the correct distance from the wall. The appliance needs to be installed on a level and rigid floor; if the floor is uneven, the rear feet can be adjusted for levelling.
Electrical Connection: After transport, the appliance should be placed vertically for at least 3 hours before connecting to the electricity mains. It must be earthed, and the plug must comply with legal standards. The electrical socket should be able to withstand the appliance's maximum power (e.g., 150 W), and the voltage must be within the 220-240V range indicated on the data plate. Extension cords or multiple sockets should not be used. The power supply cable and socket must be easily accessible once the appliance is installed, and the cable should not be bent or compressed. Regular checks of the cable are recommended, with replacements only by authorized technicians. The appliance is supplied with a 13amp fused plug for immediate use. If the fuse cover is lost, a replacement of the correct colour must be fitted. If the plug needs to be changed, it should be replaced with a fused 13amp rewireable plug bearing the BSI mark of approval, or the mains cable should be wired directly into a 13amp cable outlet controlled by a switch, accessible without moving the appliance.
Starting the Appliance: Before starting, the compartments and accessories should be cleaned with lukewarm water and bicarbonate. To start, insert the plug into the socket. The red "ALARM" and green "POWER" indicator lights should illuminate (the "TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT" knob should not be on the "off" position). Press the "SUPER FREEZE" button, which will illuminate the "SUPER FREEZE" indicator light. Once this light switches off, press the "SUPER FREEZE" button again, and the freezer is ready for use.
Adjusting Temperature: The "TEMPERATURE CONTROL" knob allows temperature adjustment. Setting "1" is the warmest, and "MAX" is the coldest. A medium position is generally recommended for optimal performance.
Freezing Food: To maximize the freezer's potential, avoid re-freezing food that has already defrosted; such food should be cooked and consumed within 24 hours. Fresh food intended for freezing should not come into contact with already frozen items and should be stored in the top "FREEZER and STORAGE" compartment. Glass bottles containing liquids, especially if corked or hermetically sealed, should not be placed in the freezer as they may break. The maximum daily freezing quantity is specified on the appliance's data plate. For small quantities of food (less than the data plate's indicated amount), press the "SUPER FREEZE" button, place the food inside, close the door, and then press the "SUPER FREEZE" button again after 24 hours. For larger quantities (exceeding the data plate's indicated amount), hold down the "SUPER FREEZE" button for 24 hours, then place the food inside, close the door, and press the "SUPER FREEZE" button again after another 24 hours. The door should not be opened during freezing.
Optimizing Storage Space: To increase storage space, some bins (excluding the lowest one) can be removed, allowing food to be placed directly onto the evaporator plates. If the top drawer is not used, food should not be stored beyond the embossed load limit line inside the freezer cabinet wall, as this can restrict air circulation and affect performance.
Power Cuts and Malfunctions: In case of a power cut or malfunction, avoid opening the freezer door to help maintain the internal temperature, which can preserve food for at least 9-14 hours. A prolonged illumination of the red "WARNING" indicator light signifies that the freezer is not functioning properly and the temperature is rising excessively, indicating a need to contact service. This light may also come on briefly if the door is left open for an extended period (e.g., during loading) or when the "SUPER FREEZE" button is pressed; these instances do not indicate a defect.
Switching Off for Maintenance: Before cleaning or maintenance, the appliance must be disconnected from the electricity supply. This involves setting the "TEMPERATURE CONTROL" knob to the "off" position and pulling the plug out of the socket.
Cleaning: The external and internal parts, as well as the rubber seals, can be cleaned with a sponge soaked in lukewarm water and a solution of bicarbonate of soda or neutral soap. Solvents, abrasive products, bleach, or ammonia should not be used. Removable accessories can be washed in warm soapy water or dishwashing liquid, then rinsed and dried thoroughly. Dust accumulated on the back of the appliance can be removed using a vacuum cleaner on medium power, but the appliance must be switched off and unplugged first.
Preventing Mould and Odours: The appliance is made of hygienic, odour-free materials. To maintain an odour-free environment and prevent stains, food should always be properly covered or sealed. If the appliance is to be switched off for an extended period, the interior should be cleaned, and the doors left open.
Defrosting: Manual defrosting is necessary if the frost layer exceeds 5 mm. Sharp or pointed objects should not be used for defrosting, as they can damage the refrigeration circuit. The defrosting process involves several steps:
Environmental Conservation: To conserve energy, the appliance should be installed in a fresh, well-ventilated room, protected from direct sunlight and away from heat sources. Avoid keeping the door open for long periods or opening it too frequently. Do not overfill the appliance, as cold air needs to circulate freely for proper food preservation; impeded circulation can cause the compressor to run continuously. Hot food should not be placed directly into the freezer, as this increases internal temperature, forcing the compressor to work harder and consume more energy. Regular defrosting is important, as a thick layer of ice reduces cold transfer efficiency and increases energy consumption. Finally, regularly check and clean the door seals to prevent cold air from escaping.
