The Hoymiles DDSU666 (CT × 100 A) is a single-phase smart energy meter designed for power monitoring and energy metering in electrical systems. This intelligent instrument combines measurement and communication functions, making it suitable for various applications, including industrial and mining enterprises, hotels, schools, and large public buildings. It is a DIN35 mm din rail-mounted, modular device, characterized by its compact size, ease of installation, and networking capabilities.
Function Description:
The primary function of the DDSU666 is to accurately meter positive/reverse active energy and combined active energy. It ensures no data loss after power interruption, maintaining reliable energy records. The meter features a field LCD for displaying electrical parameters and energy data. The energy measurement value can be displayed with six bits, ranging from 0 to 999999 kWh. The display cycles through various measurement data items every 5 seconds, including:
- Current positive active energy (Imp): Displays the total positive active energy consumed.
- Current reverse active energy (Exp): Displays the total reverse active energy generated or fed back into the grid.
- Modbus: Indicates the communication protocol in use.
- 8 Data bits, None Parity, 1 Stop Bit: Specifies the serial communication settings.
- Comm.Add: Displays the communication address, which can be set via buttons or the S-Miles App.
- Baud rate: Shows the communication baud rate, also configurable via buttons or the S-Miles App.
- Voltage (U): Displays the current voltage in the circuit.
- Current (I): Displays the current flowing through the circuit.
- Active power (P): Shows the instantaneous active power.
- Power factor (Ft): Displays the power factor of the circuit.
- Frequency (F): Shows the frequency of the electrical system.
The meter is equipped with an RS485 communication interface, supporting the Modbus-RTU protocol. The baud rate can be adjusted between 1200 bps and 9600 bps, with a default of 9600 bps (n.1 check bit and stop bit). The factory default communication address is 001. The electric energy pulse output interface is a passive photoelectric isolated output, producing an 80+16 ms square wave. A long-life LED display indicates meter pulses.

Usage Features:
The DDSU666 is designed for easy installation and configuration.
- Installation: It is clamped directly onto a DIN rail, typically installed in or near a distribution box, right after the utility meter. For hybrid systems, grid L/N are connected to terminals 3/4, and the CT is clamped to the L line with wirings connected to terminals 5/6, ensuring the CT arrow points towards the grid. The communication cable connects to terminals 24/25. For AC-coupled systems, smart meter 1 connects to the grid port, and smart meter 2 connects to the GEN port, following the same connection method. When installing, the card slot end clips into the guide rail. For disassembly, a screwdriver is used to press the card to remove the instrument.
- Configuration: The communication address and baud rate can be set through buttons on the device. A long press (3 seconds) on the button enters the communication address setting interface, which cycles through baud rate and communication address settings. Pressing the button as needed adjusts these settings; the device exits these settings after twenty seconds of no button operation. Alternatively, the S-Miles App can be used to set the communication address by entering the smart meter's serial number. For AC-coupled systems with two meters, the grid-side meter's address should be 002, and the PV-side meter's address should be 001.
- Safety: The manual emphasizes strict adherence to safety precautions, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) during all operations and complying with local laws and regulations. Before connecting cables, it's crucial to ensure the meter is undamaged to prevent electric shocks or fires. Checking the product model, specifications, and packaging for damage before installation is also essential.
Maintenance Features:
- General Maintenance: Disconnect the power supply before any maintenance or repair. All maintenance and replacement operations must be performed by qualified personnel. Regular inspection and maintenance are recommended for safety.
- Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues:
- No display after power-on: This could be due to incorrect wiring or abnormal voltage supply. The solution involves reconnecting according to the wiring diagram or supplying the correct voltage.
- Abnormal RS485 communication: Possible causes include a disconnected, short-circuited, or reversely connected RS485 cable, or mismatched communication parameters (address, baud rate, data bit, parity bit) between the meter and the host computer. Solutions include checking/replacing the cable and ensuring communication parameters are identical.
- Inaccurate energy metering: This can result from incorrect wiring, incorrect phase sequence, or reversed high-end/low-end connections of the current transformer. The power values (Pa, Pb, Pc) may also be abnormal if negative. The recommended solution is to reconnect according to the wiring diagram. If the issue persists, contact the local supplier.
- Storage: The instrument and accessories should be stored in dry, ventilated places, away from humidity and corrosive gases. The storage temperature range is -40°C to 70°C, with relative humidity not exceeding 75%.
- Warranty: Hoymiles offers free repair or replacement for quality problems within 18 months from the dispatch date, provided the product is operated according to the manual's provisions and the seal is intact.
