Cartridge presence detection
The DC controller judges the cartridge presence based on the primary transfer current. The DC
controller measures the primary transfer current when the power is turned on or a door is closed.
When the measurement is over the specified value, the DC controller judges it “no cartridge” and
sends the error message to the formatter.

Cartridge life detection
The DC controller detects cartridge life data and passes information about the following aspects of
the cartridge to the formatter:
toner level
photosensitive drum
developing unit
