2.2 Cluster Models
As described in the Cluster Platform Overview, there are several models of HP Cluster Platform,
each of which is available as prepackaged dense clusters, or as modular clusters. The clusters
are assembled from compute building blocks (CBBs), interconnect building blocks (IBBs), and
utility building blocks (UBBs). Larger cluster configurations might require utility extension racks
(UXR) to accommodate utility nodes that will not fit into the UBBs. The following configurations
are available:
Cluster Platform Express (CPE): Quick order packaged clusters, available in 42U or 22U
racks.
Dense Configurations: Dense clusters are available in configurations of up to 16 nodes, 17
to 32 nodes, 33 to 47 nodes, 48 to 63 nodes, and 65 to 128 nodes.
Modular Configurations: Modular clusters are built using CBB, IBB, and UBB modules and
are available as bounded clusters of up to 128 nodes. Federated clusters (above 128 nodes)
