Flexible paper handling
The less you have to interact with your printer, the better. That’s why HP offers flexible, expandable
paper input.
• Accommodate your work team’s varying needs with flexible paper-handling capabilities. For
optimal paper flexibility, the HP Color LaserJet 3800 series printer comes with a 100-sheet
multipurpose input tray for specialty papers and an adjustable 250-sheet input tray for
standard paper. An optional 500-sheet input tray means you can expand this printer’s
maximum input to 850 sheets (standard on the 3800dtn)—end-users will appreciate that they
won’t have to restock paper frequently.
• The printer supports a range of standard and custom paper sizes and a variety of media types,
including paper (plain, preprinted, letterhead, prepunched, bond, recycled, color, rough,
glossy), transparencies, labels, envelopes, cardstock, and user-defined. For the printer’s
complete paper specifications, see Appendix B, “Technical specifications” on page 41.
• The printer also allows you to configure the input trays by paper type, simplifying user
interaction. Assign a paper type and size to an input tray, and when you select that type in the
print driver, the printer finds and uses the requested paper. This feature can prevent
accidentally printing on special, more expensive media.
• HP Color LaserJet 3800dn and 3800dtn printers feature built-in automatic two-sided printing.
Routinely printing documents on both sides reduces printing costs, virtually doubles the printer’s
input capacity, and makes paperwork more manageable, freeing up space in your files and on
your desk. Produce professional-looking documents on demand, without standing by the printer
and handling every page.
