Separation roller (product base)
CAUTION: Do not touch the spongy roller surface unless you are going to replace the roller. Skin oils
on the roller can cause paper pickup problems.
1. Remove paper tray (if installed), and then carefully place the product front-side up.
CAUTION: The ADF and scanner cover are not captive and can open suddenly if the product is
placed front-side up. Always support the ADF and scanner cover before placing the product front-
side up.
NOTE: Debris can scratch or damage the back of the product.Before you place the product front-
side up, remove any debris from the work surface. If possible, set the product on a clean, dry cloth
to prevent scratching and damage.
2. Release the two roller-cover locking pins and then remove the cover.
