Remove the two Phillips PM2.0×2.0 screws (1) that secure the optical drive bracket to the optical
drive.
7. Remove the optical drive bracket (2).
Reverse this procedure to reassemble and install an optical drive.

Fan for use in 35.6-cm (14.0-in) and33.8-cm (13.3-in) computers 605787–001
Before removing the fan, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 56).
5. Remove the service door (see
Service door on page 56).
Remove the fan:
1. Position the computer upside down with the front toward you.
2. Disconnect the fan cable (1) from the system board .
