A densitometer is a device that reads:
● Ink film thickness on a printing machine
● Dot area
Density is a measurement of the amount of light that is absorbed by the
colorants on the printing material.
Dot area is used where tonal values are printed with
halftone or frequency-
modulated patterns. Dot area is the ratio of tonal coverage to the area of the
printing material measured as a percentage.
