Peaks will show up in a scan as a lighter color and not necessarily in all colors, it depends on which color
channels are being affected by the dirt/ scratch.
Drops will be seen as a dark line in the scan and again not necessarily in all colors, it depends on which color
channels are being affected by the dirt/ scratch.
If the peak or the drop is within 1-2 div (lines) it is usually not noticeable in the scan and is just general noise.
The dirt or the scratch can be from one pixel to several!
