Do not connect the USB cable until step 14 for correct software installation.
Lower paper and cartridge doors, then remove all packing material from the device.
Check the contents of your box; note that contents may differ or be purchased separately.
Connect the device's power cord and adapter to begin setup.
Load plain white paper into the tray, being careful not to force it too far.
Press the On button to power on the device.
Open the print cartridge door and ensure the carriage moves to the center; device must be on.
Remove tape from cartridges, avoid touching contacts, and do not re-tape.
Insert tri-color and black cartridges into the correct slots, pushing firmly until they snap into place.
Close the print cartridge door and wait for the alignment page to print automatically.

Once the USB prompt appears, connect the USB cable to the device and computer.

Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the software installation.
Complete the Setup Assistant screen by following the onscreen instructions.
Cancel screens, remove and re-insert the Windows CD if the USB connection prompt doesn't appear.
