Evaluating color laser printers 7
HP Smart printing supplies
The simple, all-in-one print cartridge design incorporates the development system, imaging drum,
and chemically-grown toner into one unit, and helpful instructions enable any user to replace them.
With only four supplies to order and install, you’ll spend less time on printer maintenance and more
time printing your documents.
The HP Smart printing supplies are activated every time you put an HP print cartridge into your
HP Color LaserJet 2600n printer. Each HP print cartridge features HP Smart printing technology,
which monitors and adjusts print cartridge characteristics to adapt to the temperature and humidity
in the printing environment and ensure consistent print quality throughout cartridge life, and from
cartridge to cartridge. The HP print cartridges, printer, and printer software are designed to work
together, allowing you to monitor your current supplies, order new supplies online, and print
successfully every time.

Flexible paper handling
The printer’s fully adjustable, single-sheet, priority feed slot and 250-sheet input tray 2 handle a
variety of standard and custom paper sizes. The printer supports paper (plain, letterhead,
prepunched, bond, color, rough, preprinted, recycled), HP Color Laser Glossy Photo Paper,
HP Color Laser Glossy Brochure Paper, HP Color Laser Matte Brochure Paper, HP Color Laser
Matte Photo & Imaging Paper, HP Color Laser Soft Gloss Presentation Paper, HP Color Laser
Transparencies, labels, envelopes, and cardstock.
Providing an input capacity of up to 500 sheets, the optional 250-sheet paper tray 3 reduces the
need to add paper, allows you to store paper by type or size, and keeps your office productive.
To take full advantage of the printer’s paper handling capabilities, use the HP Embedded Web
Server to assign a paper type to each input tray. Then, you can select a paper type in the printer
driver and the printer automatically finds and uses the requested paper. For more information, see
“HP Embedded Web Server” on page 27.
