Base model with 96 MB SDRAM.

Place printer on sturdy, level surface in a well-ventilated area.
Avoid direct sunlight, sudden temperature or humidity changes.
Open box, cut tape, remove strapping loops, lift box.
Remove connecting tabs, cushion rails, and inner sleeve.
Lists printer, cartridges, software, documentation, and power cord.
Install stand and 500-sheet feeder, save packaging materials.
Position stand ensuring it's level, sturdy, and supports corners.
Remove all trays from printer and 500-sheet feeders.
Remove packing material from all paper trays.
Use guide pins on stand to align feeder when lowering.
Align second feeder with first feeder's guide pins; note precautions.
Turn off and unplug printer before setup if already operational.
Requires four people to lift and move printer to its prepared location.
Align printer with feeder guide pins and lower gently.
Caution when stacking; avoid tipping. Secure units with screws.
Adjust rear guide by latch; slide back. Slide side guides.
Load paper face-up into 500-sheet feeder trays.

Grasp blue handles, insert cartridges firmly until they click.
Use green handles to close the transfer unit.
Close the front cover, then the top cover.
Print configuration page to verify proper printer operation.
Check configuration page for installed paper trays and options.
Connect printer directly to network via RJ-45 port.
Connect printer and computer to network via a print server.
Connect printer and computer directly to network.
Connect computers to hub, printer to computer via parallel cable.
Connect printer to computer using a direct parallel cable.
Insert CD, run installer, and follow on-screen instructions.
Run installer or select printer. Configure drivers to show feeder installed.
