20 Evaluating MFPs
Output quality
Produce great-looking documents with industry-leading output quality
There are many different factors to consider when evaluating the overall quality of a product’s output. Print and
copy quality involves more than dots per inch (dpi) and a higher dpi does not necessarily mean better print
quality. HP’s LaserJet technology is integrated with each component of the device such as toner consistency,
print speed, and the level of cartridge life remaining—to deliver the consistent and high-quality output customers
have come to expect from HP.
High-quality output
Through innovative engineering, HP FastRes technology delivers outstanding print quality at engine speed—you
get the high-quality output you have come to expect from HP without sacrificing performance.
Because HP FastRes technology can represent each dot space as one of 256 levels of gray, the HP LaserJet
M4345 MFP series prints incredibly sharp text and graphics. As a result, the professional print quality obtained
with HP FastRes rivals that of competitive MFPs with higher dpi specifications—but without the performance
penalties.
HP FastRes is the default, out-of-the box print mode. However, for customers desiring the highest level of print
quality, HP ProRes 1200 provides true 1200 by 1200 dpi.
HP-engineered toner
Smooth HP toner particles produce true HP LaserJet print quality—clear, sharp text, smooth grayscales, and
deep blacks. Consistent toner particle size enables accurate placement and control while maximizing the
efficiency of how toner is used. Continuous improvements to HP toner formulas enable reliable, high-quality
results at a broad range of print speeds.
Impressive scanning, copying, and faxing
The MFP can produce high-quality images from two-sided color documents at high fidelity for archiving or
digital sending needs. Color scan quality ranges up to 600 by 600 dpi optical and 1,200 dpi enhanced
resolution. You can make reliable copies at up to 600 by 600 dpi, and send and receive faxes at up to 300 by
300 dpi.
Ensured output quality with HP testing
Prior to its introduction, a new HP LaserJet MFP undergoes rigorous HP testing to ensure that it provides
consistent high-quality output. Tests are performed with a large sample of products through each step of the
design process, to be certain that the MFP measures up to HP standards. Throughout this testing, HP discovers
and resolves any issues that would compromise output quality. The result is a solid, reliable product that
produces consistent, excellent print throughout its life and the life of its supplies.
