HOTSPOT SETUP GUIDE
LASERJET PRO M1210 SERIES
A hotspot-enabled product has the ability to provide wireless Internet access for your computer, smart phone, or tablet.
This product supports the following types of connections:
PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet) Dynamic or Static IP address with router
Option 1: Configure hotspot at software installation
After having installed the printer driver, select the option
to Enable Hotspot & Direct Print, and then click Next.
Select one of the Security Mode options, and then
click Next. The options include:
WPA/WPA2: maximum security (recommended)
WEP: medium security
Disable: no security (not recommended)
You also have the option to set up a custom SSID.
Connect the product to a computer with the USB
cable, and then click Next.
Before continuing with this procedure, set up the product rst by following the
Installation Guide.
You have three options to set up the hotspot feature.
Note: This product does not support bridge or
repeater modes.

Summary

Configure Hotspot via Software Installation

Enable Hotspot & Direct Print

Select to enable Hotspot & Direct Print during printer software installation.

Choose Internet Connection Type

Select how the product connects to the internet (Dynamic IP or Static IP).

Select Security Mode

Choose a security mode (WPA/WPA2, WEP, or Disable) for the hotspot.

Connect Product via USB

Connect the printer to the computer using the USB cable.

Enter Connection Information

Fill in PPPoE or Static IP details provided by ISP or IT support.

Review Current Settings Summary

Review a summary of the current settings before completing the configuration.

Configure Hotspot via Windows Wireless Utility

Open Wireless Configuration Utility

Access the utility through Start Menu > All Programs > HP.

Select Hotspot & Direct Print

Choose the Hotspot & Direct Print option within the utility.

Enable Hotspot Feature

Select the option to enable Hotspot and Direct Print.

Configure Hotspot via Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Locate Product IP Address

Find the printer's IP address by printing a configuration report.

Access EWS via Web Browser

Enter the product's IP address into a web browser's address field.

Enable Hotspot in EWS

Navigate to the Hotspot & Direct Print tab and select Enable.

Review EWS Settings

Review and change Security, LAN, and PPPoE settings in EWS.

Apply EWS Changes

Click Apply to save any configuration changes made in the EWS.

Set or Change Printer Admin Password

Access Admin Password Settings

Use the EWS to access or modify the printer's administrator password.

Enter and Confirm New Password

Type the new password and confirm it in the respective fields.

Save Admin Password

Click the Apply button to save the new printer admin password.
