Connect the power cord to a grounded AC outlet and the product.
Turn on the product after connecting the power cord.
Use arrow buttons to select language/location and press OK.
Slide and tilt the control panel for better viewing.
Connect USB cable to start HP Smart Install program automatically.
Adhere to the prompts during the installation process.
Choose the USB printing option when prompted.
Connect network cable, wait for IP assignment.
Use Setup button to get Config report and find IP.
Use browser to enter IP, find HP Smart Install tab, and download.
Insert the installation CD into the computer's CD drive.
Connect USB cable and power on the product before installing.
Click the installer program in the pop-up dialog.
Follow onscreen instructions to install the driver.
Connect phone cords for fax and handset, use adapter if needed.
Use HP Fax Setup Wizard for date, time, and header info.
Product prints page explaining control panel use after setup.

Load description page, press Start Copy button to test feeder.
Press any button to wake the product from energy-saving mode.

Use M1-M3 and Store buttons for programming numbers.
Use Redial/Pause for redialing and Flash for busy lines.
Answer the phone, wait for fax tones to be detected.
Hang up the handset after the phone becomes silent.
Load document, then call recipient using handset.
Press Start Fax on control panel when recipient is ready.
Visit www.register.hp.com to register if not done during installation.
