Lower the paper tray and print cartridge door for access.
Remove all packing material and protective film from the device.
Close the print cartridge door after unpacking.
Verify the box contents, noting that they may differ.
Note that USB cable and photo paper may need separate purchase.
Connect the power cord and adapter, but not the USB cable yet.
Press the power button to turn on the HP All-in-One device.
Pay attention to helpful messages on the display during setup.
Follow prompts to select and confirm language and country/region.
Follow prompts to install print cartridges and proceed.
Open the print cartridge door and ensure the carriage moves to the center.
Important: The device must be turned on to insert cartridges.
Remove the tape from both cartridges.
Caution: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or re-tape.
Hold the cartridges with the HP logo facing upwards.
Insert tri-color in the left slot, black in the right slot.
Push cartridges firmly until they snap into place.
Close the print cartridge door.
Press OK when prompted to confirm genuine HP cartridge installation.
Pull out the tray extender.
Load plain white paper into the tray.
Press OK after loading paper.
Follow on-screen instructions to print the alignment page.
Place the top of the alignment page face down in the front right corner of the glass.
Close the lid and press OK to complete alignment.
Connect the USB cable to the HP All-in-One and the computer.
Follow the onscreen instructions to complete software installation.
Connect the USB cable to the HP All-in-One and the Mac.
Insert the HP CD, double-click icons, and follow setup assistant.
Address the Microsoft Add Hardware screen by cancelling and plugging in the CD.
Troubleshoot setup failure by unplugging/plugging device and checking USB connections.
