Before removing the flash media/1394 board, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power cord.
4. Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 79).
5. Remove the following components:
a. Bluetooth module (see

b. Mass storage device (see
Mass storage device on page 83)
c. Optical drive (see
Optical drive on page 94)
d. Keyboard (see
Keyboard on page 96)
e. Switch cover (see
Switch cover on page 103)
f.
Palm rest (see
Palm rest on page 107)
g. Display assembly (see
Display assembly on page 116)
h. Top cover (see
Top cover on page 128)
Remove the flash media/1394 board:
1. Release the ZIF connector to which the flash media/1394 board cable is attached, and then
disconnect the flash media/1394 board cable (1) from the system board.
2. Remove the slotted Torx T8M2.5×7.0 screw (2) that secures the flash media/1394 board to the
base enclosure.
3. Lift the left side (3) of the flash media/1394 board to release the connectors from the openings in
the base enclosure.
