Setting up the Gen8 server
Complete the following procedure to set up the Gen8 server that you want to register with Insight
RS.
1. Install the Gen8 server as described in the HP ProLiant Gen8 Server Installation Instructions
for your server model at http://www.hp.com/go/proliantgen8/docs.
2. Connect iLO to the network.
3. Install the system software.
During this process, you can configure hardware settings, install an operating system, and
configure iLO settings. When you configure iLO, record the iLO IP address.
NOTE: If you select the HP Intelligent Provisioning Recommended installation method for the
OS installation, the HP Agentless Management Service is installed. For more information about
the available OS installation methods, see the HP Intelligent Provisioning User Guide.
When AMS is installed, the server name is displayed in HP Insight RS and HP Insight Online,
and can be viewed by HP support and your authorized service provider, reseller/distributor,
and installer. To protect your privacy, do not use sensitive information in the name of the Gen8
server.
4. If you did not use the HP Intelligent Provisioning Recommended installation method for the OS
installation, install the Agentless Management Service.
To download the required files, see Table 2 (page 8).
For more information about AMS, see “Using the Agentless Management Service” (page 35).
5. Install the HP ProLiant iLO 3/4 Channel Interface Driver. iLO uses this driver to communicate
with AMS.
To download the required files, see Table 2 (page 8).
6. Verify that version 1.05 or later of the iLO 4 firmware is installed. HP recommends version
1.10 or later.
For information about installing an iLO firmware update, see Chapter 3, “Configuring iLO”
in the HP iLO 4 User Guide.
7. Configure the SNMP settings on the iLO Management – SNMP Settings page in the iLO web
interface.
1. Start the iLO web interface.
2. Navigate to the Administration→Management page.
3. Enter the following information in the Configure SNMP table:

For information about other methods you can use to configure these settings, see the HP iLO
