Step 3 – Mandatory – Select Interconnect Building Blocks (IBB) and other AlphaServer SC Interconnect components
• An AlphaServer SC IBB consists of an AlphaServer SC Interconnect 16-port or 128-port switch and other hardware and software at the core of
AlphaServer SC systems.
Step 3a – Select the 16 way IBB
• If the AlphaServer SC20 system is expected to grow to no more than 16 nodes, choose one of the following:
AlphaServer SC20 16-way IBB, North America
DA-SCBPA-AA
AlphaServer SC20 16-way IBB, International
DA-SCBPA-AB
The AlphaServer SC20 16-way IBB includes the following hardware and services:
• AlphaServer SC Interconnect 16-port Switch
• Sixteen 3-meter AlphaServer SC Interconnect Cables
• DECserver 716 for console consolidation of up to 16 nodes across the Management Ethernet
• One 24-port 10/100 Ethernet Switch
• One H9B15, 2-meter tall black carbon rack assembly with AlphaServer SC door and PDUs, without side panels (order separately – Step7)
• One 3DLabs Oxygen VX1 graphics card for installation in Management Server
• Tru64 UNIX Operating System V 5.1A media and documentation
• AlphaServer SC System Software media and documentation
• Documentation for Advanced File System Utilities, a component used by the AlphaServer SC System Software
• Factory staging, integration, and full test of the IBB, the CBBs, the SBB(s), and the MBB
• Installation and basic configuration of system software and storage
• Customer Services installation on site
Step 3b – Select the 128 way IBB, 16-port switch cards and cables
If the AlphaServer SC20 system is larger than 16 nodes, or is expected to become larger than 16 nodes, choose one of the following parts:
AlphaServer SC 128-way IBB, North America (expandable to 128 nodes)
DA-SCCAA-DA
AlphaServer SC 128-way IBB, International (expandable to 128 nodes)

• The AlphaServer SC 128-way IBB has one switch card to support the first 16 nodes configured as described in Step 1 and 2. For each additional
full or partial set of 16 nodes, order an additional AlphaServer SC 16-port switch card.

• The AlphaServer SC 128-way IBB includes sufficient cables to connect the IBB to the first 16 of the nodes configured as described in Step 1 and
2 (any combination of DS20L and ES40/45 is supported).
• For more than 16 nodes, order extra cables as follows:
- For each of the first 28 DS20L additional nodes, order one cable, 5-meter long,
- For each additional node, after the first 28 DS20L additional nodes, or for any ES40/45, order one cable, 10-meter long
• The AlphaServer SC20 16-way IBB includes sufficient cables to connect the IBB to the first 16 DS20L nodes.
• For each additional ES40 or ES45 order one 5-meter long extra cable
