Sprint Service: The Basics
MMS settings
䢇 Auto-retrieve: Select this option to automatically retrieve all your picture messages completely. When
selected, the picture message header plus the message body and attachments will automatically
download to your device. If you clear this check box, only the picture message header will be retrieved
and shown in your All messages screen.
䢇 Priority setting: Set the message priority of text messages sent.
䢇 Maximum message size: Set the maximum file size of a picture message. The picture message will not be
sent out if it exceeds the file size set here.
䢇 Connection settings: View various MMS connection settings such as the MMS connection name and server
address.
Received messages
䢇 Received notification: Select this option if you want to receive a notification in the status bar when a new text
or multimedia message arrives.
䢇 Play notification sound: If you want the device to ring when a new message arrives, select this option.
䢇 Notification sound: Select a ring tone that is specific to new text and picture messages. Note that the ring
tone briefly plays when selected.
䢇 Vibrate: Select this option if you want the device to vibrate when a new text or picture message arrives.
Sent messages
䢇 Sent notification: Select this option if you want to receive a notification in the status bar when a message is
sent successfully.
䢇 Failure notification: Select this option if you want to receive a notification in the status bar when a message is
not sent successfully.
䢇 Play notification sound: If you want the device to ring when a sent or failure notification is received, select this
option.
䢇 Notification sound: Select a ring tone that is specific to sent or failure notifications. Note that the ring tone
briefly plays when selected.
䢇 Vibrate: Select this option if you want the device to vibrate when a new text or picture message arrives.
Adding the Messages Widget
Add the Messages widget to let you read your messages on the Home screen. To learn how to add widgets,
refer to “Customizing the Home Screen” on page 22.
Caller ID
Caller ID allows people to identify a caller before answering the device by displaying the number of the
incoming call. If you do not want your number displayed when you make a call, follow these steps.
1. Press to open the Phone screen.
2. Tap .
3. Enter a phone number.
4. Tap .
To permanently block your number, call Sprint Customer Service.
