Manage Your Connections
n Turn off wireless connections you’re not using.Toturnonoroffconnectionssuchas
mobiledata,Wi-Fi,orBluetooth,gotoSettingsandtouchtheirON/OFFswitches.
n Turn GPS on only when a precise location is needed.Topreventsomeappsfromusing
GPSinthebackground,cleartheDevice sensorsoptioninSettings>Location>Mode.
Selectitonlywhenyouneedyourpreciselocationwhileusingnavigationorlocation-based
apps.Formoreinformationonlocationservices,seeLocationSettings.
n IftheSleep modeoptioninSettings>Powerisenabled,atlowpeaktimes,yourphonewill
turnoffthedataconnectionafterthescreenhasbeenofffor15minutesandthere’snonetwork
activity(nodownloads,streaming,ordatausage).Thedataconnectionresumeswhenyou
switchthescreenbackon.
n TurnonAirplanemodewhenyoudon’tneedanywirelessconnectionsandyoudon’twantto

Loweringthebrightness,lettingthedisplaysleepwhennotinuse,andkeepingitsimplehelpssave
batterypower.
n Useautomaticbrightness(thedefault),ormanuallylowerthebrightness.
n Setthescreentimeouttoashortertime.
n Don’tusealivewallpaperforyourHomescreen.Animationeffectsarenicetoshowofftoother
peoplebuttheydrainyourbattery.Changingyourwallpapertoaplain,blackbackgroundcan
alsohelpalittle.Thelesscolorisdisplayed,thelessbatteryisused.
n SettheWebbrowsertoautodimthescreenwhilewebpagesload.OpentheInternetapp,and
thentouch >Settings>Accessibility>Dim screen during page loading.
