Overview

This document serves as the Owner's and Installation Manual for the HTW PREMIUM R32 CIRCLE R32 outdoor unit, specifically covering models HTW-UO-035SKR32, HTW-UO-052SKR32, HTW-UO-071SKR32, and HTW-UO-105SKR32. It provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, installation, and maintenance of the air conditioning unit.

Function Description

The HTW PREMIUM R32 CIRCLE R32 is an outdoor unit for an air conditioning system. Its primary function is to circulate a special refrigerant, R32, through the system to provide cooling and heating. The manual emphasizes that R32 is a non-polluting refrigerant with no harm to the ozonosphere and a lower influence on the greenhouse effect compared to common refrigerants. It boasts good thermodynamic features, leading to high energy efficiency and requiring less refrigerant filling. The unit is designed to operate pleasantly when installed as outlined in the manual, connecting with an indoor unit via piping and electrical cords.

Important Technical Specifications

The manual provides several important technical specifications, particularly concerning installation requirements:

Refrigerant:

  • Type: R32 (flammable gas)
  • Flammability: Very low, ignitable only by fire.
  • Odor: Refrigerants do not contain odor.

Installation Location (Minimum Room Area - m²): The minimum room area required for installation varies depending on the refrigerant charge amount and mounting type. For example, for a charge amount of ≤1.2 kg:

  • Floor mounted: 14.5 m²
  • Window mounted: 5.7 m²
  • Wall mounted: 3.1 m²
  • Ceiling mounted: 2.6 m² These values increase with higher charge amounts, reaching up to 130.5 m² for floor-mounted units with a charge of 3.9 kg. The unit must be installed in a room with a floor area larger than the specified minimum.

Connection Pipe Requirements: The maximum length and height difference for connection pipes are specified:

  • HTW-UO-035SKR32: Liquid pipe 1/4 inch, Gas pipe 3/8 inch. Max length: 20m. Max height difference: 15m.
  • HTW-UO-052SKR32: Liquid pipe 1/4 inch, Gas pipe 1/2 inch. Max length: 20m. Max height difference: 15m.
  • HTW-UO-071SKR32: Liquid pipe 1/4 inch, Gas pipe 5/8 inch. Max length: 30m. Max height difference: 15m.
  • HTW-UO-105SKR32: Liquid pipe 3/8 inch, Gas pipe 5/8 inch. Max length: 30m. Max height difference: 15m.
  • HTW-UO-120SKR32: Liquid pipe 3/8 inch, Gas pipe 5/8 inch. Max length: 30m. Max height difference: 15m.
  • Pipe Wall Thickness: 0.5-1.0mm, capable of withstanding 6.0 MPa pressure.
  • Insulation: Connection pipe must be insulated with proper waterproof material.

Electrical Requirements:

  • Power Supply: 220-240V~, 50Hz.
  • Air Switch Capacity (A) / Minimum Sectional Area of Power Cable and Earth Line (mm²):
    • HTW-UO-035SKR32: 10A / 1.0 mm²
    • HTW-UO-052SKR32: 16A / 1.5 mm²
    • HTW-UO-071SKR32: 25A / 2.5 mm²
    • HTW-UO-105SKR32: 25A / 2.5 mm²
    • HTW-UO-120SKR32: 25A / 2.5 mm²
  • Disconnect Device: Must have a contact gap of at least 3mm in all poles.
  • Communication Lines: 2 pieces of 0.75mm² power cord for indoor/outdoor unit communication (max 50m) and wired controller/indoor unit communication (max 30m). Recommended length is 8m.

Working Temperature Range: The unit may not work properly outside these ranges:

  • Cooling Operation: Outdoor side temperature above 43°C or below 15°C. Indoor side temperature below 21°C.
  • Heating Operation: Outdoor side temperature above 24°C or below -15°C. Indoor side temperature above 27°C.

Usage Features

The manual primarily focuses on installation and maintenance, but some usage features are implied through safety precautions and troubleshooting:

  • Refrigerant R32: The unit uses R32, a highly energy-efficient and environmentally friendly refrigerant.
  • Cooling and Heating Modes: The unit supports both cooling and heating operations, with specified temperature ranges for optimal performance.
  • Error Codes: The unit provides error codes (e.g., CL, E0-E7, L0-L9, U0-U7, PC) to indicate malfunctions, aiding in troubleshooting. These codes are displayed simultaneously when connected to a wired controller.

Maintenance Features

The manual outlines routine maintenance procedures and troubleshooting steps:

Routine Maintenance:

  • Qualified Personnel: Only qualified service personnel are allowed to perform maintenance. All power supply circuits must be disconnected before accessing terminal devices.
  • Cleaning: Do not use water or air above 50°C for cleaning air filters and outside panels.
  • Air Filter:
    • Do not remove the air filter except for cleaning to avoid damage.
    • Clean the air filter by removing dust with a vacuum cleaner and gently rinsing with cool water. Avoid detergents or hot water to prevent shrinking or deformation. Dry in the shade.
    • Reinstall the filter as before.
    • Increase cleaning frequency in highly contaminated rooms (e.g., once every six months).
    • If dirt is impossible to clean, replace the air filter (optional).
  • Unit Cleaning: Do not clean the unit with gasoline, benzene, thinner, polishing powder, or liquid insecticide, as this may cause discoloration and deformation.
  • Indoor Unit: Do not wet the indoor unit to prevent electric shock or fire hazard.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting table for common failures and their possible reasons:

  • Unit cannot be started: Power supply not connected, electrical leakage causing breaker disconnection, operating keys locked, control loop failure.
  • Unit operates for a while then stops: Obstacle in front of condenser, abnormal control loop, cooling operation selected when outdoor temperature is above 52°C.
  • Poor cooling effect: Dirty/obstructed air filter, heat source or too many people in the room, open door/window, obstacle at air inlet/outlet, high temperature, refrigerant leakage, poor room temperature sensor performance.
  • Poor heating effect: Dirty/obstructed air filter, door/window not firmly closed, low ambient temperature, refrigerant leakage, outdoor ambient temperature below -5°C, abnormal control loop.

If problems persist after checking these points, users are advised to stop operation immediately and contact a local service agency for professional inspection and repair.

Refrigerant Handling (for qualified personnel):

  • Welding/Cutting Pipes: Requires shutting down the unit, cutting power, eliminating refrigerant, vacuuming, cleaning with N2 gas, cutting/welding, and recycling refrigerant into specialized storage tanks. Ensure no naked flame near the vacuum pump outlet and good ventilation.
  • Refrigerant Filling: Use specialized R32 filling appliances, ensure different refrigerants do not contaminate each other, keep the refrigerant tank upright, stick a label after filling, avoid overfilling, and perform leak detection before test running and upon removal.

The manual also includes warnings about the flammability of R32, the importance of proper installation by authorized personnel, and the risks of improper handling, such as mixing gases in the refrigerant cycle or operating the compressor with open valves. It emphasizes that the appliance should be installed according to national wiring regulations and that children should be supervised to prevent them from playing with the unit.
