The EchoLife ONT GPON Terminal HG8245H is an indoor optical network terminal (ONT) designed for home users, providing comprehensive triple-play services through its abundant hardware ports. This device serves as a crucial component in a Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Network (GPON) access layer, connecting home users to the Internet via a single optical fiber. Its design emphasizes user convenience, energy efficiency, and secure, reliable network access.
The HG8245H functions as a home gateway, offering high-speed data, quality voice, and superior video services. It provides a high-speed data channel with an upstream rate of 1.244 Gbit/s and a downstream rate of 2.488 Gbit/s, enabling users to enjoy a seamless online experience. The ONT connects to the optical splitter and the network-side OLT through its passive optical network (PON) port, which is also referred to as the OPTICAL port, facilitating integrated access services. In the downstream direction, the ONT connects to various terminals via its LAN-side ports, supporting a wide range of services.
For data services, the ONT includes Ethernet ports (LAN1-LAN4) that can be connected to devices such as PCs, set-top boxes (STBs), and video phones, delivering high-speed data and video. Each Ethernet port is designed for single-user access. Voice services are provided through TEL ports (TEL1-TEL2), which connect to telephone sets or fax machines, offering cost-effective Voice over IP (VoIP), Fax over IP (FoIP), and Modem over IP (MoIP) services. Similar to Ethernet ports, each TEL port supports only one user access.
Wireless connectivity is a key feature, allowing Wi-Fi terminals to connect through a secure and reliable high-speed wireless network. The ONT supports up to six wireless connections simultaneously. Additionally, a USB port enables connection to USB storage devices, facilitating convenient home network attached storage and file sharing services.
The device supports various gateway functions, including Network Address Translation (NAT), Virtual Server, Port Trigger, and DMZ. It also offers broadband features such as "any port any service," "smart pipe," and "intelligent hotspot." For voice services, it supports Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and H.248, with separation of voice media streams and signaling streams. Multicast features include IGMP V2&V3 Snooping, dynamically controllable multicast, and IGMP Proxy.
The HG8245H is designed for flexible deployment, capable of being placed on a workbench or mounted on a wall, adapting to different user environments. Its upper shell is made of natural heat dissipation material, and the optical port features a dust-proof design with a rubber plug, contributing to its eye-pleasing aesthetic and energy efficiency.
The ONT offers secure and reliable Wi-Fi access based on 802.11 b/g/n standards. It supports four SSIDs, allowing users to select different wireless networks. The device is compatible with IEEE 802.11b/802.11g/802.11n and has passed Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) Alliance authentication, ensuring good compatibility with other WLAN devices. Multiple authentication and encryption modes are supported, including 64-bit and 128-bit WEP encryption, WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK, WPA, WPA2, AES, and TKIP, providing robust security for wireless networks. The WLAN function can be enabled or disabled via a dedicated WLAN button, and a WPS button simplifies WLAN data encryption.
The USB port enhances user convenience by supporting Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) and hot plugging. Its functionality can be configured through the local Web page, making home network attached file sharing straightforward. The USB port also acts as an FTP client for home storage, enabling users to download files from public network FTP servers directly to a connected USB storage device.
The ONT's gateway functions are secure and powerful, with a forwarding rate of up to 900 Mbit/s, meeting the demands of high-quality services. It can operate as either a DHCP server or a DHCP client, catering to various network scenarios. Security features include anti-DoS attack configuration, MAC address filtering, IP address filtering, URL address filtering, firewall, and ONT ACL, making the gateway more secure and reliable.
The HG8245H incorporates convenient automatic provisioning, maintenance, and management features for remote services. It supports TR-069 and ONT Management and Control Interface (OMCI) protocols, allowing for unified management of all home terminals without the need for additional IP networks. This facilitates remote fault diagnosis, service provisioning, and performance statistics collection.
Remote service management includes the ability to configure global profiles and issue XML configuration files from the Network Management System (NMS). This streamlines batch provisioning of ONT services and network adjustments, requiring only minimal changes. User-defined upgrade policies can be configured through the NMS, enabling automatic device upgrades upon power-on, eliminating manual intervention.
The ONT supports remote performance management via the NMS, collecting performance data to monitor network performance exceptions in real-time. Remote fault locating is also supported through alarm reporting and remote loopback diagnosis, significantly reducing maintenance costs.
Local service configuration, query, and software upgrades can be performed through the Web page interface. The device also offers dual system protection for its software (normal system and mini system) and intelligent monitoring for reliable operation. Ethernet features include VLAN filtering, VLAN transparent transmission, VLAN N:1 aggregation, and VLAN 1:1 switch. Power-saving features include dynamic power adjustment. Loop line tests and circuit tests are also available for diagnostic purposes.
