Overview

The Hunter Tripod Fan, Model 90646, is a portable fan designed for household use, offering an attractive design, powerful airflow, and three-speed settings. Its all-metal construction ensures durability, while its tripod base provides stability. This owner's manual provides comprehensive instructions for assembly, operation, and maintenance, emphasizing safety precautions and proper usage.

Function Description:

The Hunter Tripod Fan is designed to provide air circulation and cooling in a household environment. It features a powerful motor capable of delivering maximum airflow, and its three-speed settings (low, medium, high) allow users to adjust the comfort level according to their preferences. The fan head can be manually tilted to control the upward and downward direction of airflow, enabling targeted cooling.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: 90646
  • Power: Operates on 120-volt AC electrical outlets (ordinary household current).
  • Plug Type: Grounded three-prong plug, suitable for grounded receptacle use only. An adapter may be required for two-slot receptacles (not supplied).
  • Fuse: Employs overload protection with a 5 Amp, 125 Volt fuse located in the plug.
  • Speeds: Three speed settings (1-low, 2-medium, 3-high) plus an off setting (0).
  • Construction: All-metal construction.
  • Lubrication: Permanently lubricated motor, requiring no additional oiling.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: The fan head is attached to the tripod by fully extending the pre-installed tripod legs, aligning holes, and securing with three screws. The pole from the bottom pole assembly slides into the tripod poles until clip buttons appear. The fan head bracket is then fitted into the tripod adapter slot, aligned with a hole, and secured with a bolt and nut. A bolt cover is placed on top of the tripod bracket for a finished look.
  • Operation:
    • Power On/Off and Speed Selection: The fan is turned "ON" or "OFF" by rotating the power/speed knob located at the back of the fan head. The power should always be OFF before unplugging the fan. To select a speed, the control knob is rotated from "OFF" (0) to the desired speed setting: 1 (low), 2 (medium), or 3 (high).
    • Fan Tilt Adjustment: The fan head can be manually tilted to adjust the upward and downward direction of airflow to the desired angle.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Electrical Safety: Do NOT use with solid-state speed control devices. Always ensure the power plug is removed from the socket when not in use, before cleaning, servicing, or moving. The appliance has a grounded three-prong plug; an adapter may be needed for two-slot receptacles and must be properly grounded. Do NOT attempt to defeat the safety feature of the grounded plug.
    • Placement: Do NOT use near windows, in damp places, or where humidity is high (e.g., bathrooms). The fan should be placed on a flat, stable surface to prevent falling. Do NOT place near open flames, cooking, or heating appliances. Do NOT use near curtains, plants, or window treatments.
    • Cord Management: Do NOT run the cord under carpeting, throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings. Do NOT route the cord under furniture or appliances. Arrange the cord away from traffic areas to prevent tripping.
    • General Safety: NEVER insert fingers, pencils, or other objects through the grill when the fan is running. Do NOT operate with a damaged cord or plug, or if the appliance malfunctions or has been dropped. Discard the fan or return it to an authorized service facility for repair. To disconnect, grip the plug and pull from the wall outlet; NEVER yank on the cord. ALWAYS use on a dry surface.
    • Intended Use: This product is intended for household use only, not for commercial or industrial use. Do NOT operate in the presence of explosive and/or flammable fumes.
    • Children: Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used near children. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or intellectual disabilities, or lack of experience, unless supervised or instructed by a responsible person. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
  • Fused Plug: The product employs overload protection via a fuse in the plug. If the fuse blows, unplug the product. If the attachment plug is damaged, discard the product. To replace a fuse:
    1. Grasp the plug and remove it from the receptacle.
    2. Locate the door on top of the plug and slide it towards the blades.
    3. Carefully remove the old fuse from its clips.
    4. Replace with a 5 Amp, 125 Volt fuse.
    5. Gently push the new fuse back into the pins.
    6. Slide the door back over the fuse box.
    7. Plug the fan back in.
    • Warning: Only replace with a fuse type and rating matching what was removed. If the product fails a second time, immediately unplug and contact technical support. Do NOT replace the attachment plug itself if damaged; discard the product.

Maintenance Features:

  • Lubrication: The fan is permanently lubricated and does not require additional lubrication (oil) throughout its lifespan.
  • User Serviceable Parts: The fan requires little maintenance and contains no user-serviceable parts. Users should NOT attempt to fix it themselves; contact qualified service personnel if servicing is needed.
  • Cleaning:
    1. Turn the fan off and unplug it from the electrical outlet before cleaning.
    2. Use a dry or slightly damp lint-free cloth to clean the fan.
    3. Use a soft, slightly damp cloth to wipe the remaining fan parts.
    4. Ensure adequate air circulation to the motor by keeping the vents at the rear of the motor free from dust accumulation. A vacuum cleaner hose can be used to clean these vents.
    5. Do NOT immerse the fan in water or any other liquid.
    6. Do NOT allow water or any other liquid to get into the motor housing or base.
    7. Do NOT plug the fan into an electrical outlet until it has been fully reassembled.

Troubleshooting:

  • Problem: Cannot adjust the angle of the fan.
  • Solution: Loosen the screws on the side of the fan head bracket, adjust to the desired angle, and then tighten the screws.

The portable fan must be properly packed to avoid transit damage. Proof of purchase (sales receipt or other document) is required for warranty service.
  • Limitations: In no event shall Hunter Home Comfort be liable for consequential or incidental damages. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts or the exclusion/limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so these limitations may not apply to all users. The warranty provides specific legal rights, and other rights may vary from state to state.
