This document is a user manual for Hyundai Diesel Generators, covering both open and silent type models. It provides comprehensive information on safety, technical specifications, components, startup procedures, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Function Description
The Hyundai Diesel Generator is designed to provide electrical power. It is available in two main configurations: "Open Type" and "Silent Type," catering to different noise level requirements and operational environments. The generators are powered by direct injection diesel engines and feature an AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) alternator to ensure stable power output. They are equipped with electric start methods and various safety and control features for reliable operation.

Usage Features
Safety Information:
- Always check the generator for apparent trouble, loose screws/nuts before use.
- Operate within a temperature range of +5°C to 40°C.
- Use good quality oil and diesel.
- Never operate in a closed or poorly ventilated area due to carbon monoxide risk.
- Allow the exhaust to cool before touching or moving the machine.
- Repairs should only be performed by qualified personnel.
- Do not smoke or use flames near the generator during operation or refueling.
- Store in a well-ventilated area, never inclined or vertical.
- The warranty is voided if startup/shutdown procedures are not followed.
First Startup Procedure:
- Oil: Fill the motor with 15W40 oil (max 1.6 Lt), checking the level with the dipstick (without screwing it in) to ensure it's at the maximum line.
- Fuel: Fill the fuel tank with diesel (14-17 liters depending on version).
- Battery Connection (Electric Start): Connect the red cable to the positive (+) and the black cable to the negative (-) terminal of the battery. For silent models, ensure lateral battery caps are removed and tape the positive terminal if necessary.
- Ignition: Turn the ignition key or switch to the "ON" position.
- Speed Lever: Turn the speed lever to the "RUN" position.
- Fuel Circuit Purge: If necessary, purge air from the fuel circuit by removing the indicated rubber tube, letting diesel flow until no air is present, then reattach.
- Decompression Lever (Open Type): Turn the decompression lever to the starting position.
- Differential Switch: Ensure the differential is in the "OFF" (down) position.
- Starting:
- Open Type (Recoil Start): Pull the starter rope until resistance is felt, then let it return. Turn the key to "START" or pull the starter rope to start the engine.
- Silent Type (Electric Start): Insert the key into the bowler, turn right to "ON" for contact, then turn to "START" to start the engine.
- Post-Start: Allow the generator to run for 3 minutes. Keep the differential in "OFF."
- Load Connection: Connect the load, then put the differential in the "ON" position.
- Digital Display: The LED 5 digital display will show voltage, frequency, hours of use, and applied power.
- Overload Protection: The breaker will trip (jump) between 3 and 10 seconds if overloaded.
Stopping the Generator:
- Disconnect Load: Turn the differential to the "OFF" (down) position and disconnect all connected equipment. Failure to do so may damage the AVR.
- Engine Stop: Turn the key or switch to the "OFF" position.
Maintenance Features
Regular Checks:
- Always control oil and fuel levels before each use.
- Clean all elements regularly.
- Visually check external components and ensure screws and nuts are tight.
First Oil Change (after 20 hours):
- Place a recipient under the drain screw.
- Loosen and remove the drain screw.
- Drain the engine oil.
- Re-fit and tighten the drain screw.
- Replace the gasket screw to prevent leaks.
- Fill with new 15W40 oil (1.6 Lt).
- Subsequent Oil Changes: Every 100 hours of operation.
Oil Filter:
- Remove and clean the oil filter during every oil change, replacing the gasket.
- Impurities can block the oil sensor and prevent startup.
- Replacement: Every 200 hours.
Air Filter:
- Clean the air filter with compressed air during every oil change.
- Replacement: Every 200 hours.
- Warning: Do not start the engine without the air filter.
Diesel Filter:
- Replacement: Every 100 hours.
- The filter is located inside the fuel tank or in the fuel pipe (model dependent).
- When replacing, place a container underneath as there is no stopcock.
- Replace earlier if fuel is dirtier than normal.
Prolonged Storage:
- Drain the fuel tank.
- Drain the engine oil.
- Pull the starter until resistance is felt (to close valves and prevent moisture/corrosion).
- After prolonged storage, the startup process is identical to the first startup.
- Never incline the generator during transportation without emptying the oil pan to avoid severe engine damage.
